Hello, I am the "Chief Slave" of the Puget Sound Depth Chargers. Yes, our website took a dive last week, and unfortunately, it is doing a few chamber rides right now. :) Just kidding. Actually, it did crash and our webmaster is busy trying to get it up and running again. The Alki Pipeline ...

Re: 3 tank dive today...

The Barges were fantastic. I stopped counting how many lingcod nests we found. More than 10. I have never seen so many before! How were the pilings and the dolphins? I've seen pictures of the piling removal that started there week before last...didn't look good. Did you notice the work? Have they g...

Re: Early Daylight Savings Time and Currents/Tide Prediction

My question...I use "Tide Tool" on my PDA to predict slack at specific dive sites. I confirmed with Tide Tool's creator that my version of the software is indeed incorrect for the next few weeks. A beta version is available to correct it at: http://www.toolworks.com/bilofsky/tidetool/beta...

Early Daylight Savings Time and Currents/Tide Prediction?

Sooooooooooooo...I just realized that daylight savings time starts this weekend, which is 3 weeks early this year. Congress expanded daylight-saving time in 2005 as part of the energy bill, and it starts this year. There has been some talk that computers, etc won't automatically update the time on S...

I was helping with an OW class there in the AM...I'll check to see if anyone lost a watch. I know several students had them attached to various hoses, etc.

casio-ex-z1000 with ewc-80-housing

I know a bunch of you have this camera/housing set-up and really like it. I'm really considering purchasing this set-up after years of standing firm to the belief that I don't like to take UW photos. (don't ask...)

Are you using a strobe? Or just the built-in flash?

Thanks,
Jenn

Be careful with Zicam! A coworker of mine is involved in a class action lawsuit against the company for losing her sense of smell and taste. She's been miserable!

Thanks,

In my humble opinion, the UW Park is really not a beginning level dive. I know there are plenty of folks who would probably disagree with me though. You can run into pretty good currents there on a big exchange day and if diving at times other than slack. That combined with significant surface swimm...

OH holy cow! I work in an elementary school, and I feel like I've been exposed to the plague!!! All week long, there have been 5-10 kids per class (that's 25-50%!) out sick. The teachers are starting to drop like flies now too. I've been washing my hands like crazy, using hand sanitizer, and trying ...

That makes me wonder where they went ... is that dude who was harvesting them from dive sites still doing so? ... Bob (Grateful Diver) I don't know if he's still at it or not. BUT, from informal observsation, I have seen a large GPO at Redondo since I saw him harvesting there a few years ago. He wa...

I have dove Norrander's Reef 3-4 times. It is an easy dive with little/no current--there can be a bit of a current on an ebb tide. I recommend that you do your first dive there on a low tide as the tide is starting to come in for that reason and for another one. The second reason is that there is a ...

This little guy and his buddy (had already flown away before I could snap the shot) will be losing his home if the pilings at the Barges are taken out. This photo was just taken on Sunday. Hmmm...endangered species...does this help our case to save the pilings at Maury Island??? --photo removed-- Jenn

I don't like a lot of bulk on my arms, so I went with a Weezle vest. When the water and air temps are extra cold, I use it over my regular undergarments and love it.

I don't know if there is an "advantage" to not getting the hard soled boots, except maybe price. I have the regular, softer soled boots on my USIA, and 5 years and 500+ dives later, they are in fine shape. I've walked over pavement, cement, sand, rocks, boulders, grass, hills, boat decks, ...
