Calvin's Crack

Calvin's Crack is both our Glorious Leader's, uh, bottom parts, and a great dive site in Roatan. Dark, narrow, crusted with growth, filled with hidden critters, you enter at the top, make your way down, and exit out of the wall at about 90 feet or so. Make your way back up the wall, peeking into hol...

Re: Club Dive! Club Dive! Club Dive! SUNDAY July 22!

Most likely it will be on the area between Coves 1 & 2, but it will depend on who is set up where when we get there. I'll hang a NWDC shirt from my canopy.

Re: Quadra Island Adventures!

Y'all got some great photos even with the challenges! I loved the tube worm site too! It's amazing how they soak up the light. I went up there several years ago on a weekend with the currents were relatively mild, and diving could still be a bit challenging. It is an absolutely lovely place to dive ...

Re: WTB - Canon Powershot S100 Housing

Eh, it's more of a "I'm about to do a bunch of REEF surveys...hey, a camera would help! And I have a Powershot already!" kind of thing. I'm not that invested in it, but I might order one for the next time.

Thanks guys!

Long shot - anyone have a housing for a Powershot S100 lying around?

Great photos!

Salt Creek is the only site where I've seriously considered wearing a wetsuit. The entry/exit can be brutal!

Re: South Baja 2018

We would be delighted!

I've been to Cabo Pulmo in August, can confirm it's hot. It wasn't outrageously so IMO for general living, but I wouldn't go hiking at noon in the summer or anything like that. It's not hot in the ocean!

Re: Mexico diving/snorkeling?

Snorkeling is great there too! There's a reef just off the beach that runs sorta parallel to the shore, with a bit of reef, a bit of sand, another reef a little farther out. We saw morays, occasional turtles, and even a small reef shark. Bonus is that it's relatively inexpensive and easy to get ther...

Lovely shots Bob!

Both the Socorro and Loreto are high on my list. I hope to be traveling to one or the other next year.

Welcome to the board, and welcome back to the addiction! Cold water is a bit different than warm, but it has its own unique appeal and beauty. The best thing for your daughter would be to get a mask and gear that fits well. It's challenging to do with a small face and feet, and at some point she wil...

Re: Sund Rock changes

Every time the price has gone up, a large percentage of divers have said "That's it! I'm not going any more!", and then some do, some don't. Perhaps the price has reached the tipping point? It's the shop that takes the brunt of the anger and frustration, I don't blame them at all for not w...

Re: Belize 2018

Great report and photos! I'm glad you liked Belize! I really enjoyed it there. We went to a restaurant there that specialized in lionfish. It's delicious. When I think of all the other fish whose populations got wiped out due to their tastiness, I never thought I'd hope for that to happen to another...

Re: Why isn't there diving near Bellingham?

Multiple rivers and creeks drain into the bay. It's got a muddy bottom and lots of sediment, which tends to make viz really bad.

The rocks look cool though.

Re: Attached Drysuit Boots Cause Floaty Feet?

Carl, if you can make it to the club dive this weekend I can try to find you a less floaty pair of fins to dive with. Everyone here is correct, though, that it's mostly incremental adjustments to weight, technique, and practice over more gear.
