Scuba-Fix BCD Repair kit

I got a BCD for my son that was just about perfect. WOuldn't you know it, the dumb thing busted the dump valve one of the first dives out. The entire thread part for the bcd completely broke apart. After some research, it appeared that no local company would be willing to fix it so I undertook findi...

Re: Recently moved to the area

If you want to head out, just holler! I am in the Mill Creek area and my usual haunt is Mukilteo, but I am open to sites and ideas. I was diving the Alluminator on Waterman's Wall and Blake Island today, sorry I missed the BBQ. Tropical diving is nice, but there is such a rich abundance of life here...

Re: New diver

Welcome! I dive with the kids when I can get them motivated, so if gear is holding you up from getting out there holler. I have gear to share, I can rarely talk the kids into going out around here with me unless they are diving for groceries. They are kinda small though, but we have tanks, regs, etc...

Found: Ford key in Mukilteo shrimping 5/7

I posted this in a couple of other places, not sure where folks might look. I found a Ford key tonight, the more modern kind with the embedded chip. There is a long story about why I know they have computer chips, but that is not important. Anyway, if you or someone you know might be missing a Ford ...

Shrimping May 7th Mukilteo--key found

Hey Everyone, Shrimping was a blast, too bad it only comes 2 nights a year! As I was leaving, I found a Ford key and a key fob in the parking area near where we all were hanging out. If you, or someone you know, is missing a more modern Ford vehicle key (the kind with the chip inside) please describ...

AOW and Rescue class in May

Not sure if any of my fellow NW Diveclub members would be interested in this, but Argonauts Diving is offering a great deal on a combined AOW/Rescue cert's this month. Some folks dropped out of the class recently and they are looking to put some more folks in there to make it fun and educational. On...

WTB: Small to Medium Dry suit with large feet

Daughter got a dry suit, now the son says he wants to dive dry too. These kids are costing a fortune! I am looking for an inexpensive small to medium dry suit with some life left in it. The kid wears a 10-11 men's shoe, he has grown flippers of his own. He's 5'6" about 100lbs and growing like a...

WTB: dry glove system and Xsmall dry hood

Daughter got a dry suit and would like to give it a test spin in the local waters. Looking to find an extra small dry hood for cold water (probably at least 6mm thick) and some dry gloves. I was thinking to buy the SI Tech rings to install in her seals like mine, but I am open if someone has some ex...

Snatching Crabs in Mukilteo

PlayinginJeans and I went out to the T-dock this morning to catch some sweet winter dungies before they were all gone. It was one of those days you were happy to say, "I caught crabs!", although something is lost in the translation when you send your hubby at work a cryptic message like th...

Re: Snatch crabs around Seattle

Just an update for y'all.... Brandon and I met up at 10ish and met some folks coming out of the water for NWDC and around the sound. Viz was awesome once you got below 15' (for here) and we 'caught crabs' so it was a successful dive. The parking area where we all like to park is taken up with work m...

Super, thanks for the update John!

For anyone interested, sounds like Brandon and I are meeting at 10 am for some diving. If you care to join us, just holler! Hoping the weather cooperates, I saw sun on the forecast.....

Re: Snatch crabs around Seattle

Me too, me too! The kids are *all* in school for the first time. I'd love to meet up, I am free most weekdays after 8:30am until about 4pm. Headed on vacation from 10/11-20 though so I'll be diving the Riviera Maya then. Weekends are tough, but if you're headed out please let me know! I've been tryi...

Yes, thanks Laurynn! I sent your generous response back to the teachers and I am waiting to hear what they want to do from here. You are so kind to offer to give up a portion of your trip, we appreciate it!

Re: Octopus Study

Yes, I saw on Laurynn's site that she is in Singapore so I kinda figured that was the case, but thought she might have some ideas for me too. Must be nice to be a young person with no family to be able to just go and do whatever, dive wherever, sigh...... It is probably a good thing that I can't go ...

How do I get in touch with Laura James? I tried contacting Laurynn Evans too, she published some fabulous video at Cove 2 of hatching octopi. Is Laura on the Board?

You all have some great ideas, thank you!!

Octopus Study

I am hoping that my dive buddies can help me with a little puzzle. The 1st grade teachers assigned me to find a fun and interactive way for 1st graders to learn about octopi. Now, in the past they have visited the Seattle Aquarium, and that is all well and good. I notice that they often don't invest...

Oregon Coast Aquarium 9/2

I won a silent auction for a Guest Diver program at the Oregon Coast Aquarium when I was at the Tacoma Dive and Travel Expo this spring. It took a while, but I finally found a buddy willing to go along on this fabulous experience. Scheduling was a bit of a challenge, I think there was a miscommunica...

Re: WTB backplate and single tank wing

I have a diverite set up listed here, make me a reasonable and fair offer, you are welcome to even try it out in the pool and see if it matches your needs first. For what it's worth, I plan to pick up the Deep Sea Supply HOG harness with Torus wing too. Thought I'd like the Diverite but I don't care...

I am headed down to Newport, OR over Labor Day weekend. A cousin is meeting me and we're diving the Oregon Coast Aquarium and also planning to get in some dive time at the Fingers of the Newport harbor. Hoping to snatch some crab and view some critters. Anyone out there have some advice regarding OR...

Re: Under the Undergarment?

NWCID, You just described exactly what I ended up doing the last dive to try to get air out of the doggone thing and still no luck. I was diving with my instructor for my AOW when this happened, he saw the issue was air in the suit and BC wing. He helped me force the feet down and try to gather the ...

Re: Octo/BC combo air supply

I am trying to sell my Diverite set up with the Air2, see the gear for sale section. That said, if you want to try it out I can offer my pool, tanks, weights, etc. and you can see if you like it. I didn't care for this, but that doesn't mean that you won't love it. I wouldn't want to sell it to some...
