Re: DIW access

Maybe make friends with the folks? See if they'd be interested in us helping them clean up the access? I mean worst case get WSA involved and see if there is any way we could 'pay' them for use of an easement or whatnot. I would argue that shoreline public access is something that WSA should be acti...

Virtual Salish See and beyond dive sim... (with photogrammetry)

YbVHSYIyrYA It super slow going as I'm learning Unity as I go, and still need caustics on the plane and more nuanced mesh colliders but... its sorta working. Painfully rudimentary Mac and PC builds (that will work with HMD if you have one, otherwise its your standard-ish controls) I recommend a 'wi...

HZAh48BlMQA This is a mock up of the Unity build, in unity you can actually walk around the avatar :) if you have an oculus headset (or any headset that allows you to add the pixvana app) you can watch a version of this that gives you a choice between no music only, voice narration and music, and a...

Re: A Game Changer in Underwater Photography

Interesting. Doesn't seem like it works with video. And how much calibration time does it take, and seems like it may not work very deep. I heard sea&sea has come out with some new dome tech at dema that is lighter than glass and not liable to scratch. That's sounds like something I could use! ...

G7OipoU16Qg This is a test with that sadly soft Keystone footage from last month. A quick re-edit with short narration for practice. Looking forward to going back with proper focused cameras and settings (as you can see in this dive it was CRAZY bright underwater and should have had the cameras loc...

Vis was fair to midland... Everything looked like a small octopus but wasn’t... still loads of baby rockfish, one diseased sea cucumber and the adolescent wolfie still in the 50’ rockpile. This was mostly just a gear testing dive to get the beam angle on the little lights mounted on scooter to assis...

2019 first visit to the ‘the monster’ for a kickoff of the rainy season.

The rain let up just as we were arriving at the dive site, but there was still a modest amount of street runoff making its way into Puget Sound.

Re: Dramatic Change at the Richmond Beach Saltwater Park

Biodiversity is on a declining trend in the Puget sound and Salish Sea on a whole due to a number of factors. It’s not the same as it was 20-30 years ago. To write things like this off as ‘eh don’t worry about it, just a cycle’ does a disservice. Maybe it is a cycle, maybe it’s a harbinger if things...

Was your max depth the same on every dive? How much do you think the water temperature changes over the course of a year in Puget Sound? During the last 45 months I have collected 247 water temperature measurements using the same Shearwater Petrel 2. When I dive multiple times per day at the same si...

Also it’s not Fukushima, that has been debunked like 10,000 times.

H2O, What species did you see in mass? Did you get pictures or video? I know Dr Harvell would love to see them.
