Re: Sund Rock - 11/12/16

Yeah, the pics of Jesse with the cider block are priceless! I'm not sure which is more amusing, hanging the block from his belt, or swimming around in circles tethered to a stationary concrete anchor.

Re: Sund Rock - 11/12/16

Did you carry the concrete block with you, or stay tethered to a radius around it?

Re: Viz Reports Thread

Had great vis at EUP tonight (11/9). Probably 20' plus, limited mostly by the reach of our lights. Lots of shrimp everywhere we went.

Nah, that's not surge. More like a gentle dive compared to typical N California conditions. ;-)
Loved the Boulder Alley clip. Looks like a beautiful place to dive.

Yes, paying the fee gives access to the road and the lower parking area. There is a short distance from there to the table and beach access.

Re: Prescription Mask...

A full prescription mask well worth it, and costs less than a nice pair of prescription sunglasses. I'm using one from Sea Vision. They have options for bifocals, which I need as well. You need your prescription and a simple measurement of the distance between your pupils. m Sent from my iPad using ...

Amber/yellow colored mask lens

I've never tried one underwater, but as a photographer I know that all color filters decrease the amount of light that passes through them. Your eyes and brain are remarkably adept at correcting for color imbalance, but nothing will make up for the absorption of red light by seawater better than a g...

The Man's partner Terry was suffering from an imbalance in body jewelry. That was corrected tonight by adding a matching piece to his right side.

Drysuit hoods

I used a zippered Seasoft hood for a while. I found the zipper to be more trouble than it was worth; difficult to completely close and the zipper prevented it from forming around my neck. The Waterproof hood stretches enough to go over my head, then forms a good seal.

I can highly recommend the Waterproof 10mm hood. It is significantly warmer than the 8mm hoods I used to wear.

Re: Need your thoughts and ideas

I also dove with Atlantis Resort in Dumaguette two years ago and had similar experiences. My favorite days were the two trips to Apo Island, as I'm not into muck diving as much. I wanted to mention that it seems pretty easy to make small artificial reefs with a few well placed large rocks. There alw...

Hmmm? 40% O2 clean isn't really what most would call O2 clean, as it isn't enough to allow partial pressure blending.

What a great time last night! Did two dives and got to finally meet some of the crew whom I'd only seen on the forum. Scubak was so happy to be dry! Great diving with you. It was also great to see one of the famous Redondo BBQs in action. Yelloweye really pulls out the stops with all the food prep. ...

ThThTh Redondo 8/4

I have been tossing everything in the same pot and cooking it all together. The corn goes in first, then potatoes, and crab last. The crab only needs 15 minutes to cook after it gets tossed in, whole. Very tasty that way. I also add two 24oz cans of Bud to the water.

I can bring corn on the cob and potatoes for the crab boil. Hopefully will catch some crab as well!

ThThTh Redondo 8/4

I'm finally getting my backup suit back tomorrow. I'm thinking I may mix things up a bit. Have a big pot and propane burner that will hold lots of crab.
I can be there for an early dive, as that is the easiest way for me to get down there.

Re: mask - nose area

One more thing — don't tighten the strap too much. It only needs to be just snug enough to keep the mask on your face at the surface. Once underwater, the pressure keeps your mask in place. If the strap is too tight, it will distort the mask frame.

mask - nose area

I don't know about purge valves, but I'll emphasize looking for a mask until you find one that fits. You should be able to form a slight negative pressure through your nose, then have the mask stay on your face without using the strap as you hold your breath. I thought I had a couple masks that were...
