Re: Dry suit versus BC buoyancy question

Since getting my White's I have read a lot of different threads about dry suits and controlling buoyancy. I see a lot of divers saying they only use their BC for buoyancy control and put just enough gas in their dry suit to stop the squeeze and then there is the "use only your dry suit" f...

Re: I got bent (NHZ)

As a new diver with 7 dives under my belt, this scared the sh*t out of me. But good info, thank you to the OP for sharing and everyone else that contributed. This type of knowledge is always welcome. DCS is pretty uncommon. DO keep learning how to improve your skills- especially ascents, buoyancy, ...

Haven't seen the movie..BUT i am a glutton for punishment. Consider the cultural aspect of seaworld and zoo's all over the world. Sure the animals are not in their natural environment but that is the point. They are able to be witnessed by all different cultures who otherwise would never see them a...

Re: Submarine and kayak in one !

The constant flow looked pretty massive- at that rate, I think I'd be worried about running out of breathing gas more that C02! Pretty cool idea, though- how did that propulsion system work? some crazy fin on an invisible rod or something?

Yeah, I watched it. It was totally depressing. I mean, it's a great documentary, but it sure makes you want to burn seaworld to the ground, if that's possible.

Re: Rinsing gear.

Yep. As long as you don't turn the valve off. The potential for serious damage happens when you drain the tank. If you don't fill it up before you turn it on, you could be conducting an unplanned test of your temperature and pressure relief valve....and a lot of those aren't installed to code. Yup....

Re: Rinsing gear.

I think if you are just opening the lower drain valve the supply line will refill the water heater from the top as you drain off 20 gallons from the bottom. Although I am not a plumber and don't play one on TV... Yep. As long as you don't turn the valve off. The potential for serious damage happens...

Re: Rinsing gear.

Folks----if you're going to run out and start draining your water heaters on a regular basis- well, first off, don't. And second off, be really careful. You can create an extremely hazardous condition by forgetting to turn it off before you drain it, and/or by not ensuring that it's good and full b...

Very interesting. Yeah, I dived here with Marc and Bob shortly after the removal, and it was indeed a wasteland. Nothing like what I'm seeing in your vids. I might just need to head up there soon.

Bob was a pretty experienced and knowledgeable diver that John looked up to. John was just beginning to dive doubles back then. He was a very enthusi...

The rubber boots just retain saltwater and cause corrosion, in my experience- I usually cut them off.
