Re: Diving Aug 12-13

Hi! Many of the California divers I have shown around have really liked sund rock. There are lots of octopus and wolf eels to be found there. Nearby yss shop opens at 9am. The site is not current sensitive so you can dive it quite heavily all day long and there are various sections to check out! Lot...

Re: South African in Seattle

Hi As for dry suits, I'd do a run by 3-5 dive shops to get a sense of the type of suits out there, pricing and what might be in inventory. Off the shelf is easiest/fastest but do make sure it's a good fit. If considering ordering custom, do ask about the delivery time as many months wait time has no...

Re: South African in Seattle

Hi Welcome! We have a lot of great dives in the area! If equipped right, the cold here should not be an issue. Most of us dive year around! Do you have Coldwater capable gear yet or do you need drysuit training? What kind of diving do you like to do? Deep, photography, critter dives, bottle dives et...

Re: It's sincerely a calling: total N00b looking to engage

Welcome! There are many great local dive shops for training, all with different price points and specialties. In Seattle, I've seen notably good new divers come out of Annelise P's classes at underwater Sports Seattle. Join us for a Thursday dive sometime after your classes... there's a lot to learn...

Re: Mystery Worms At Redondo

Hi these have been quite common at Redondo for the last several years. They're often found on wood and there has been a lot more wood in the depths of Redondo the last couple years. The posture of the worm in your photo is unusual though!

WALLE wrote: Thu Jun 22, 2023 11:14 am Thanks for the info! I guess I’ll now need to do the math on renting vs buying extra tanks.
Tanks have a pretty good resale value. I suspect you'd be ahead buying some of you can front the dough.

Re: Visiting Seattle for July and August

Hi. Welcome!

I don't know too many open on Sundays. Anacortes diving and I believe yss are open Sundays. Those are further out but located near good diving.

I personally recommend buying more tanks.

Th 5/18 -- BBQ edition!

Hi. Who's up for a dive'n bbq this thursday? We'll have our friend Mac coming in from California! Will probably keep the bbq simple this time.... hot dogs (meat or veggie) with some delicious toppings and super-grubbin' homemade sides. Let us know if you're in and we'll grill up something good. We c...

Re: New to WA - Looking for Dive Buddies

Hi. What type of diving are you wanting to do? I find that tech divers, photographers, reef people, bottle hunters, etc often have vastly different goals so it can be good to find yourself similar buddies.

Re: Edmonds Underwater Park 20 MAY 23

Hi Not only a long walk but also a muddy one on a fragile eel grass bed. Advise not to do it mid day. Viz reports at Edmonds have also been quite bad lately. You may want to wait a while as you won't be able to go deeper to avoid a surface layer at Edmonds. Tides are terrible this weekend! I heard s...

Hi

I tracked down chevayea a while back and he mentioned he hasn't dove in a while. I think the site fell in disrepair and finally went down. You can still find it in in a somewhat usable form on the way back machine.

Re: Anybody been to the jellyfish ponds on Whidbey lately?

Hi Glenn

Go to pnwdiving.com and look up 'Driftwood Pond 1'

You can see that by 5/7 last year that it was a pretty cool dive, if we can depend on an annual cycle. Maybe it will be a bit later this year.
