Re: MMM 6/20

Yeah good time, the viz was awesome. The only rain on our parade were a couple of poachers who decided to take a bag full of crab right in front of us.

Anyone Using a FFM?

Why do you want one? Most people that I know that have tried them have gone back to regular masks.

Re: This doesn't sound good...

Before I left I talked with one of the doctors, as he was talking about how Kirby needs to be staying a one atmosphere or maybe not diving at all after this. Obviously I'm no doctor but that's exactly what they (the doctors) told Richard Pyle after he got bent to the point of being paralyzed from t...

Salvo/LM 21w HID replacement battery

Recently I have seen a big reduction in burn time on my 21w salvo HID to the point where it usually dies about half way into a second 1hr dive. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck replacing bad cells or ordering replacement packs from places like battery space.com. Oh yeah, it's a Li-Po batte...

Re: Scuba diver "wrongful death" law suit in WA

I'm not sure that there's a whole lot to discuss here unless someone has direct and reliable information on what really happened that day. It'll be up to the courts to figure this out. I'll be watching for the verdict with interest though.

I'm glad to hear that Kirby's showing signs of improvement. I never had the plaesure of meeting him but here on NWdiveclub he always came across like a nice guy.

Good deal on a dive boat

If you've thought of getting a "starter" dive boat this could be just the thing. I'm not the seller and I haven't seen it, it just looked like a good deal so I thought I'd pass it along.

Re: dry suit advice

Be prepared for a lot of differing opinions. My opinion is as follows: I wouldn't touch a (uncompressed) Neoprene suit with a ten foot pole. I would consider a crushed neoprene suit if I was making a lot of contact with the environment or if despite the thickest undergarments I was still tending to ...

Re: Gear Stolen, South Everett

Want to tell us what you got? New light? I replaced most of the gear with the same stuff except for camera, transfill whip and the light. The transfill whip I replaced with one of the nice xs scuba ones, same price as the one that was stolen. The camera I upgraded to a S95 with the Fix housing and ...

Re: Neah Bay

How much were the cabins at Snow creek lodge? We've always stayed at the Hobuk Beach Resort Campground. Snow creek is very convenient as far as tank fills go though. Also during Halibut Season the boat ramp in town can 1-1.5 hour wait time.

Re: Neah Bay

Neah Bay is my favorite place around here to dive. I can't wait to get back out there this year. So far there are at least two boats going and if there are any extra spots we'll be letting folks here know. In the mean time, if there are any boat owners who would like to hang out and dive with us for...

Re: RIB Advice

Update: I have gotten ahold of a different trailer. Now I can take a look at whatever patchwork is necessary. Besides being worn through in one spot the rub rail really is the ugliest part of the boat. It's worn and brittle and broken in places. The tubes look good where they haven't been tampered w...

Re: Anchor Rope

I use an 11lb claw about 5ft of super heavy 1/2"+ chain and 10ft or so of lighter 1/4" chain. The heavy chain keeps the shank of the anchor (the part you tie into) parallel to the bottom for the best hold without be super long. The whole deal weighs at least 25lbs. Pulling it from substan...

Re: HOG regulators

I can't speak to the quality of the internal components of HOG regs but I'm sure glad that I don't rely exclusively on a single regulator for my life support. IMHO, if the failure of any single piece of dive gear spells death It's time to reconsider either your dive plan or you equipment configurati...

Re: Anchor Rope

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll be looking at 250-300ft of 3/8 rope with at least 14 ft of chain. There's a compartment in the bow that I think will do well as an anchor locker. One of the other things i've been considering is getting a VHF radio. Are there any features I should be looking out f...

Anchor Rope

I'm trying to determine what length and diameter rope to get for my 14' RIB. It's pretty heavy for it's length but still obiously not a terribly heavy boat. I have a 17lb Danforth Anchor that will be way overkill and a smaller one that I may be able to use - gotta go measure/weigh it - as well as ab...
