Who went to the meeting last week about the state putting in a new reef at Redondo?
It would be interesting to hear about it -- I live a bit too far away to make it there after work.

I hope a lot of divers can show up and support the project -- We need them to know people dive there and the community is very interested in whats going on.

Re: Diving around Portland / Vancouver?
I enjoy Netarts Bay even if it is only 30 feet deep and you have to watch out for crabbers and boats all the time. I've seen octopus, Grunt Sculpins, tons and tons of Nudibranches, and the famous monkey face prickle backs. Thinking of .. Man its been a long time since I dove there and the winter is ...

Hey Dan, There are a lot of active divers in the Portland Area. Many go up on day trips to Hood Canal or Puget Sound on the weekends or even weekdays. Just about every weekend I head north, but I work at home so I NEED to get out on a regular basis. Its about a 300 mile round trips -- Leave about 5 ...

Flagpole - Hood Canal 5-21
0 to 30 - 20 feet
30 to 40 - 3 feet (muck)
40+ --- Oh ya this is why we dive 35+ not super dark
We could see the whole area when we dropped thru the muck layer.

Re: Mike's Beach is awesome!!!
One tank works but it depends on how much you want to dive. They are usually pretty fast getting things filled. Sund Rock and Octopus Hole you would need to drive to For Sund Rock you need to pay at Hoodsport N Dive For Octopus Hole its just a wide spot in the road Tides are generally not a concern ...

Re: Thoughts about this? (hood canal/the knuckle)
Not the type of story that will improve the image of scuba divers :(
I dove the site last weekend (from a boat)
Flagpole house was empty and viz was not very good.
I didn't see any blocks or cables on the dive site itself but I didn't venture very far from the bouy.

I wonder if there are a couple juveniles at Sund Rock ....
We saw one a few weeks ago on the wreck but maybe it got chased off from people looking for it.

Yes still around. I went when I lived closer to N Portland. They meet in N Portland about once a month and have a series of club dives thru out the year. While they would love to have new people come to their club meetings.... unless you know someone who can help you find them its difficult. I see t...

I get paid a little bit at my shop for DM and AI work -- Its paid per student. I also get paid for conducting DSDs and Scuba review sessions. Getting rich? nope but helping to cover the costs. I can fill my own tanks and Nitrox (since I took the gas blender class) Shop provides a discount on all gea...

Someday the dive shop down in Newport/Depo Bay might have a charter boat but I doubt they will be doing weekday trips. Just not enough divers -- can't even get a dedicated weekend boat in the area :( I think you would need to look into doing some shore dives -- Netarts Bay, Barview Jetty or the Newp...

Re: How much have you spent so far?
but why should I avoid split fins? I was told split fins are actually better I would dive both and then pick the one you want to use. Sometimes divers and gear are a little bit too over zealous on what others should use or not use. While I dive paddle type of fins and like them -- One of my buddies...

Always cool to see something new! Frank at Sunrise motel was mentioning to me he had reports of different fish being seen then usual out front of his resort. While I won't be an alarmist :smt064 that is what he was saying. Hopefully something bad isn't happening that is making the fish move around. ...
