Re: re-breathers

Hum..., problems maintaining buoyancy in the shallows? I have no problem maintaining buoyancy with a .5 PO2 at 5 fsw on my Meg! Question for "It's DUE", where are you getting He for $.70 a cu ft? I work at a local dive shop and our cost for He is $.81 a ft for industrial and $1.00 a ft for...

I guess I could bitch about ABO. What used to cost me $45 for a big bottle is now $150 out here in Oahu.

Re: Helium and OC

I purchase through Northwest welding supply in Kent, close to where I work part time. The supplier I use for O2 and He just had a 21 percent price increase Feb 1st, 2014. 99.9999 now costs $195 for a 244 cuft and $245 for UHP 244 cuft cylinder - ouch! What supplier do you use here in PDX, Jeff?

Pensacoladiver, I feel your pain. Living in Portland OR, I don't believe there is a single LDS that has He, and few know what He is used for! Of course trimix is the "real" voodoo gas! After hearing about the price you pay for He I'll not complain so loudly. Out here in paradise, a bottle ...

Re: Helium and OC

Don't forget to factor in the cost of driving to the local dive shop. At $.44 a mile, travel costs can add up quickly. So for example, the nearest shop that has trimix is in Tacoma about 20 miles. Round trip that's $17.60 in vehicle costs. $.44 per mile is on the low side. Most vehicle per mile cost...

But there are really nice sites near the bridge, so it will be a while before the oil disperses.

Re: go pros

I use a wasp mini video light (3,000 lumen's), two handle camera tray so I have steady shots, 30 fps 1080p, and medium wide field. 30 fps gives me the option to select or frame grab fairly good still images from the video, but I'm considering stepping up to 60 fps so I get sharper stills from frame ...

Possession point fingers 10/19 @ 1330 - 15:20
5-15 at start of dive with shallow depth 3-8 fsw and 5-15 down to 120 fsw.

By end of dive improving to 10-25 with depths above 60 fsw showing the best improvement.

At 170 fsw, not much to see in the way of marine life, but structure is interesting. Are you bringing scooters?

On saturday Oct 19 you have a good dive window between noon and 5:00 pm.

Dove flagpole today. Didn't know for sure until last day if dive was a go. Viz was 10-20 on ebb. On flood viz dropped to 3-7 at best. Humping gear up the hill really sucks. Otherwise good dive. Rebreather, scooter, two al80's for BO, etc. Cars wouldn't make it back up the loaded. Had to unload and g...
