Re: Mukilteo slow dive
I’ve been down to the man before on my rec setup with a HP119 and a pony. On a minus low tide it’s actually not too aggressive of a profile with the right gas mix for someone experienced. The steep slope up past the porcelain throne makes for an easy escape from mandatory deco stops. Cool video also...

What Shearwater to buy?
My wife needs a computer for when we are able to travel again. I’m pretty sure my current Oceanic Geo is perfect for her :angelblue: That however leaves me needing my own computer. I was going to get a Perdix like so many other people but the Teric also looks kinda cool. Has anyone used both and has...

Re: DPV dives / "Northwest Island" ?
Very cool. Were there proliferating anemones and finger sponges? It’s pretty similar to Sares Head or the less current intensive sites in the San Juans. It’s definitely not as pretty at the pass or skyline but I remember enjoying it a lot. There are lots of crimson anemones with candies (It’s where...

Re: DPV dives / "Northwest Island" ?
I’ve dove the west side off a boat and it was fantastic. If I had a scooter I would be diving there and around Skyline regularly.

Re: Spring diving at Deception Pass
where you there during the crowed days ? i heard from other divers that 2 of the good days for the pass created over 20 divers there in the parking Lot .. WOW times have changed , that site used to be only a place very few would dive .. Great Pictures !! I think one of the days there were close to ...

Re: Good Sites for Low Tide?
Adding on to what others have said, it's a good idea to pay attention to the tide heights. Some main sites such as Keystone, Cove 2, Redondo, 3 Tree and Mulkiteo can be dove at most low tides (Keystone is still current dependent, and Mulkiteo can sometimes be). Shallower sites such as Edmonds and Ro...

Spring diving at Deception Pass
I was able to get out for a handful of dives this spring under the big bridge at the north end of Whidbey Island. Due to sheer luck and a little bit of great planning advice from a couple NW Dive Club trolls (seriously do you guys ever work?! ) I was able to experience some of the best condit...

Excellent shots! Welcome back to the water. That warbonnett shot is incredible. Keep us (me) updated on your MF-1 strobe usage. I am thinking about finally getting strobes for my TG-6 and that is definitely on my research list. I probably should have picked one up during the covid sale...

Hmm, I think you dove with me at Keystone right before the shelter in place! Let’s definitely go again sometime if that’s the case.

Late spring diving in Candy Land
As we move closer to summer, the tide swings have gotten extreme and the vis has gotten poor in the sound. However, Skyline in Anacortes is continuing to deliver. There have been some really nice exchanges all spring and the vis was pushing 20 ft last week at high tide! Even better though is that wh...

Re: A couple IDs from Alki Junkyard please
I found one of these little amphipods yesterday at Skyline in 85 fsw. It had the same coloration as the photos above. It was very small and hard to see, but I managed to get a couple almost in focus pictures before I got tired of fighting the moving water. When I reviewed the photos zoomed in on my ...

Re: Viz Reports Thread
Went to Skyline today (6/2/20 ) afterwork expecting a macro hunt in the dark. Somehow the vis was almost 20 ft at times during slack, even with all the fornicating animals dirtying things up inappropriately! When the ebb kicked in it brought some dirtier water to the top 40 ft and the vis was back t...

I remembered the H20 Doc posted this a few years ago after a scooter mission out deeper. Sounds like you had similar findings.

Today (5/15/20) Keystone Jetty was dirty and brown at peak ebb tide this afternoon. 10 ft of hazy murk.

Re: Viz Reports Thread
Mukilteo T Dock on Saturday 5/9/20 had the usual swamp water down to 20 fsw on the first dive before opening up nicely to maybe 30 ft at the dome. With the huge exchange going into a minus 2 low tide, the layer of schmoo was down almost to the dome on the 2nd dive and vis was down to a dirty 15 ish....

It looks like it could possibly be a British Columbia Aeolid?

Awesome find! I’m guessing based on the hydroid that it was quite small.

April in Anacortes
It's looking like our current stay-at-home restrictions are going to slowly start easing up soon for a bit, so it's time to think about more diving! I'm pretty lucky where I live up north, so I was able to sneak over to Anacortes for a couple under the radar dives this last month without drawing att...

Elephant Seal in Anacortes
I snuck down early Easter Sunday morning for a quarantine dive at Skyline before anyone else woke up. I noticed a sign by the parking lot that said a female elephant seal was in the area molting. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49772945993_7266ce3539_w.jpg I checked the area and didn't see anyth...

Great stuff as always Jan! Good running into you Saturday, glad you got your weight belt back. What depth is that fish eating anemone? I need to stay off the bottom looking for octos more often since it seems like there is some cool stuff up higher!

Re: Diving during the lockdown
Looks like all public water access has been shut down for two weeks per https://parks.state.wa.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=603 I have an email into them. But I suspect it will be low priority given all the more pressing issues our state, country, world is dealing with. I’ll keep y’all posted. Sent from...
