Haven't dealt with these folks personally, but I've read good things online from other divers. They're local to the Seattle area:

Re: Ideal for scuba - swim with your hands!

Seriously - and btw - that was some funny stuff...!!! Anyway, has anyone tried these? I've seen similar products in the competitive swimming sections at a few stores and online, but I've never seen a diver wear these. I always assumed it was becuase they would be thin and lack thermal protection. I ...

Re: Two Years and Progress Continues.

Yup I would focus on West Coast of Mexico or HI. Sound like you have been to HI and know what that's all about.

If you go to Mexico I bet a little research would yield lots of Alaskan ex-pats living there. There are Sitkans who spend 3 - 6 months a year down there.

Considering this is NorthWest Dive Club, I'm surprised more people haven't used Dave Mathews Band for their video music.

That was great, thank you for sharing.

Re: Dive Gear STOLEN!!

Having rescued gear recently, what really helped is I had the Police Case # and the contact phone. If they walk into a shop we don't have time to try to pull up Craigslist or nw diveclub. If possible post those things. I second that notion. This is a felony level theft, so if you haven't already ha...

Re: Sportsways Hydro Twin from Washington

I won't take up too much time here with my vintage diving weirdo fixation, but does anyone know how long Craig(?) has been in the business? I checked the current phone number for the shop and it's the same. With the exception of the area code now being 425 instead of 206.... I may call and see when ...

Sportsways Hydro Twin from Washington

As some of you know, I enjoy diving with vintage gear. I found this Sportsways Hydro Twin on E-Bay a little while ago and bought it. The R/O was from Quilcene, Washington. One of the reason's I bought the reg was it had very nice chrome and I saw what appeared to be an old repair tag. Which tells me...

Hi Kirsten,

I didn't get a PM yet, so I'll e-mail you. You can keep the battery, I have a bunch.

Did you bring it to the club dive? I'm surprised you didn't get any takers down there.

Cheers and Thank You,

Dave

Re: Old Coffee Can light...

Scubak, Just so I'm being fair.... The parts for those lights are easily obtainable and the 1270 batteries are inexpensive. It would probably be worth your time to bring it to the club dive since a new diver would likely be willing to make that their entry level can light. Hope you don't recycle it ...

Re: Old Coffee Can light...

I've been looking for a 1270 powered light or can. But, to be honest, I'm not willing to pay a great deal for it.

If you're willing to mail it up to Sitka, I'd give a 100 bucks for it.

That's assuming Dusty passes on it first. :smt064

VDH Member makes a Le Prieur tribute set-up

Over on Vintage Double Hose someone has made a replica of the Le Prieur free flow reg from the 30's. It's looks like fun to use, although it's a bit different from the drawings I remember in my Jeppesen Sander book. Does anyone teach with the Jeppenson Sanders OW book anymore......?? http://vintaged...

That is good news for Tacoma. BPS sells my favorite socks in the whole wide world: Red Head..... If you dive a drysuit, they are worth the mulla. Re: Scuba 72's

OK, this is all an edit. Some time ago, DOT had the 3A designation change to 3AL for aluminum tanks, so I'm assuming you know what you've got. There were 2 varieties of the Al 72's. The older 2475 psi one is the bouyant POS, the longer 3000 psi AL 72 was made by Hymark to negate the positive bouyanc...

That is a cool find Curt. We've also been getting debri here in Southeast Alaska. I have a Bare XCD2 tech, which is the front entry version. Bottom line is, I like this suit a lot. It is very warm and I used it for an anode cleaning job in Sitka in the middle of winter where it kept me warmer than my tri-lam suit. If there are any drawbacks, it would be the boots: I find the Bare...

Re: GPO Input needed!

Option D seems like it's too broad and will likely flounder due to the commercial crabbers wanting GPO kept in check. My only concern with option C is enforcement. If a diver goes in form the beach and claims to harvest a GPO from beneath the pier, will that be a loop-hole? Should be an interesting ...

How many Cu ft. for a drysuit bottle?

I imagine those of you who have used Argon have a very quick an easy answer for me, so forgive my lack of a big search.. I have a single stage double hose reg that I want to dive here in Sitka. My question is, since I'm using a drysuit, how big a bottle will I need to sling in order to use my drysui...
