Re: Keystone Jetty
It's possible to drift from the warf to the jetty in a single dive, sometimes helped by a push from the current. In my experience, drifting from the wharf to the jetty is unavoidable. Even more fun off slack. Should probably put a note in that there's a thick line around 45ft FSW from the wh...

Re: Viz Reports Thread
Norrander's Reef on Friday was 5' down to 30 fsw or so then opened up to 15' or so on the first reef. We proceeded to the deep reef, which was really cool, but the viz dropped back to less than 10' below 60 fsw. The ropes from the buoy really make this dive site doable in almost all conditions. Gra...

Re: Viz Reports Thread
3 Tree was maybe 3ft down to 35ft. After that it opened to 15-20ft. Pretty nice dive actually.

Re: What's up with Dive Logs?
Personally, I don't think it's needed. I've never been asked to see dive logs when I travel so I just don't do it.

Re: Three Tree and other stuff...
There were a ton more jellies past the satellite dish. Not sure how far North you guys made it but I was swarmed with them at one point. A decent amount of Ratfish, but not the big schools of them like were there last year. Only saw one little octo myself in the beginning. Sorry we couldn't stay for...

That's a yes from me (also Jeff). My wife will be joining as well.
You can also just drop off gear and park on Maplewild Ave SW. I think there's only parking at the site for 2 cars, but should be plenty of room for 3-4 more on Maplewild.

I'm on Bainbridge so I'm usually good for diving. Haven't really dove on the west side of the sound much other than on Bainbridge though.

I think I'll join you guys this week. Been meaning to get in with the ThThTh crew on occasion. I'm good with either site, though 3T is much closer to my work.

Keystone was pretty yucky today. 10' at best, socking down to 5' at the end of our second dive.

Re: Dive Vehicles
A pickup truck with a locking cover is probably your best bet. But if you don't want a pickup, a midsized SUV. I use a Forester which does a pretty darn good job of it as well. Tanks fit perfectly on the floor in the back seat (can get 4 in there). My wife and I both dive out of rubbermaid totes and...

Looks like that's a size medium which is the same as mine. I'm looking for a small for my wife. Thanks though.

Re: Best dive camera less than $500?
A strobe will be much more beneficial than a new camera. Of course, both would be better, but a strobe alone will take up your $500 limit. Normal lights just don't have anywhere close to the power of a strobe. If you want a camera to upgrade to, then I'd look at an Olympus TG-4 or TG-5 if you want a...

Re: Sixgill at Redondo
Very cool video.
Make sure you let the aquarium know about it and give them the video. They track sixgill sightings to keep an eye on the population.
I saw one there last December.

Re: Olympus TG-4 First use at Cove 2
What focus light are you using? It shouldn't have that much of an effect on your photos. The camera is probably automatically adjusting your ISO really high since the water is so dark which is causing the blowing out. And I dive in a wetsuit in the sound. You're not alone. It's not too bad, except f...

Re: Anyone diving Edmonds dive park May 13
Looks like decent sized exchanges on the 13th. Edmonds is more of a place to go on a low exchange high tide. It silts out easily and you can't get deep enough to get under it.

No worries. I thought your username looked familiar. I haven't done any of those sites near PT yet, so I wouldn't be much use there.

Re: Port Townsend - May 6/7
I was planning on going over to Keystone on the 6th for a couple dives. Probably be on the 12:30 ferry over to Coupeville from PT. 2 dives, then back on the 6pm ferry putting me back into PT around 6:35-6:40. Do you have drift diving experience? One of the dives there can get some decent current goi...

Congrats on #100. I think I'm probably pretty close to 100 myself. Not entirely sure, to be honest.
YE, I seriously need to get some instruction on you on strobe placement. No matter what I do I can't get shots without backscatter like you do unless I'm doing macro stuff.

SOLD: Camera stuff: Zen WA-100 Port & Olympus 9-18mm Lens
SOLD. Figured I would post these up here to try and sell locally first. Upgraded my camera and went to a Nauticam housing, so I can't use these. The port is for Olympus housings only. The Zen port is for use with the 9-18mm lens, 14-42mm lens, and can be used with the 60mm macro lens. If you have t...
