Re: Looking for a Dive Master for Edmonds Oct 24th

Hi Cassie and welcome to the site. I understand the frustration of being a new diver and looking for how to increase your (and your daughter's) comfort in the water -- I was in the same boat with my daughters three years ago when we were all newly certified. I don't know of a private DM-for-hire, bu...

Re: Howe Sound in early September

Well, two long COVID years later we're hopefully going to make it up to Howe Sound finally (I don't mind reviving the old thread since it was still the last thread in this channel). We're diving with Sea Dragon charters to Halkett Pinnacle (weather permitting) in October to see the Halkett Sponge Bi...

Welcome to the group! I hope you're able to find some awesome boat dive sites up near Guemes/Anacortes.

Re: Ready to Jump in

Welcome to the group and to cold water diving. You picked a good time of year to dive in since the visibility is improving now from the summer muck. Hope to see you around.

I hope your COVID recovery goes smoothly.

Did you check with Underwater Sports there in Edmonds? People sometimes turn in found gear at the shop.

Re: Back in the Water Again!

Hi Pam, welcome back to the deep end. I'm sure you'll find the diving in the PNW really enjoyable, especially in a drysuit. If you're in the north, you should check out the Bubbles and Suds group of Facebook for weekly(ish) Wednesday dives in Mukilteo. There is another group that dives Redondo (Des ...

Cozumel in February

Laurie and I have still never dove outside the U.S. (even in Canada), so with our Covid vaccine jabs and travel opportunities opening up, we've book airline tickets to Cozumel for a week in February. I don't have lodging and diving opportunities arranged yet, but based on a recommendation from @knee...

Re: Monterey Bay April 2021

Talk about a small diving world, Laurie and I had Nickolas Ta as a guide when we were diving off a boat down in Monterrey in September 2019 -- he's great. The first thing he asked when he heard we were from Seattle is whether we knew JanK (who we hadn't met at the time.)

GUE Seattle Wednesday Night Dives -- change of venue

For anyone that has been thinking of joining the GUE Seattle Wednesday night dives that have been happening at Redondo this winter and spring, they are moving to Cove 2 for a while to give a little variety in dive sites. We'll still be meeting around 6pm for a 7pm splash. All certified divers are we...

Re: ThThTh 3/25

There is a group, mostly from 8 diving that goes to Redondo on Wednesdays. They seem to be a fun group as well. They do more doubles and drills type diving from what I can tell. I can introduce you to some members if needed. I frequently do the Wednesday night 8 Diving/GUE Seattle dive at Redondo (...

Re: 3/27 Dive Group

Unfortunately I'm not diving on Saturday, but I would suggest joining the "Moss Bay Divers / PNW Scuba" group on Facebook and posting a request there. It is one of the more active Facebook dive groups in the Seattle area and you may find someone there to dive with.

Re: BazillionQuestionsRegardingGearConfiguration

There is also a great community of GUE divers up here in Seattle that are welcoming of new divers no matter what agency they have trained with, so your long hose won't raise any eyebrows. There are several wrecks in Lake Washington (both aircraft and vessels) that can be reach by boat (usually priva...

8 Diving rents Santi drysuits. I think it is $100/day -- I don't know if they will do a discount for longer term rental.

Underwater changes at Redondo

My wife and I dove the north side at Redondo for the first time in a couple months (we've been looking for lumpies on the south side since then) and we noticed how much has changed from all the runoff from the heavy rains we had. It looks like a huge amount of sand and rocks have been deposited off ...

Re: Hello!

Welcome back to the area! I think you'll find the diving here a lot of fun and the cold water creatures are definitely spectacular. The water here doesn't often get below 45-46 degrees, so you may be fine in a wetsuit, but it's normally the surface interval and second dive where a drysuit really mak...

Found Fin at Three Tree Point

A fin was found at Three Tree Point (North) this morning -- it's a "jet" style fin. Identify the manufacturer and size to reclaim it.
