Gypsy Diving in the Hood
Soooooo... My wife took off with the kids. Not permanently, just to every amusement park north of Tijuana. I had to stay home and work....take care of the cats...and hang out. I decided that a trip to the Hood sounded pretty good and with the temps in the mid-80's, it sounded cooler than the PDX are...

Re: Sund Rock 7/25
I'd like to get to meet some of y'all so I can put faces to more of you. Next time I go diving, I'll put up a big sign that says "NWDC folks, stop by and say Hi" I'll have to try to hit one of your club dives and wear a name badge :) I was really glad we hit the south wall early. The north...

I think we saw you there- did you have the Subaru? I think your drysuits were blue-ish? I was going to catch you and ask if you were on the nwdc as you were starting your second dive but missed you cause you hopped in the water ---fast! :0 Great dives- I posted some pix on FB- tons of octos and wolf...

Re: Help! My camera is freaking out!
Penopolypants is right- hot day, cold water- instant condensation. Tricks that can help with that- use little desiccant paks inside the case to help absorb moisture. When there is a big temperature gradient- try to keep your camera cool- a bucket of water works. When I was diving in Roatan, I notice...

Re: Diving the Bahamas from Blackbeard's Boat
To be honest- there were two shark dives- one was where the ships of Blackbeard's usually feed sharks for the tourists and the other was the Lost Blue Hole near Nassau. The shark feed was really great- lots of Caribbean Reef Sharks- got to collect some teeth afterwords. The one really great shot I g...

Re: Bonaire dive spots
I liked "Alice in Wonderland" - part of the double reef. The guy that was taking us out knew it was a double reef but we didn't so he kept on swimming past the first reef, seemingly out to sea. Then we hit it an I knew. I really liked the "wild side". We were there during hurrica...

Re: Diving the Bahamas from Blackbeard's Boat
I was still getting in good long dives toward the end and the depths seemed not an issue. My computer wasn't holding me back it seemed at all. I think the long SI's really helped with that. Only the walls were where you could go deep and I liked hanging out on them; the bigger stuff seemed to be out...

Re: Diving the Bahamas from Blackbeard's Boat
They had the usual marine head with the gearshift-looking pump. They actually seemed to work fine for the most part. You had to be careful not to get to crazy with it. The spearfishing was allowed anytime we weren't in a marine park (we spent several days motoring through 1 or 2 it seemed) We only a...

Diving the Bahamas from Blackbeard's Boat
Warning- long report- stop reading now if don't like that sorta thing. Folks, We recently returned from a week of diving some semi-remote locations of the Bahamas. It was a trip that Blackbeard's Cruises offers where you live aboard a sailboat for a week and dive as much as the air compressor (and c...

Re: Are you fussier about viz than you used to be?
I'm like Spat- it's a bit of a haul for me to go so once it's decided, we WILL be diving, whatever the viz is. That said, when I hear about awful viz, it does make me consider if I want to spend the money and time to make a go of it. Awww, who am I kidding.... we usually go anyway ;) I agree tho- I ...

Re: Recent San Juans Viz?
The dives in the San Jauns were really great. Kurt and Peggy took us to: Gull Island, Larry's Lair, Pt George, and Bell Island The viz was variable with the worst being about 10-15 ft, best was maybe 20. Got to see a lot of cool critters- My first Tiger Rockfish and some of the guys got great video ...

Recent San Juans Viz?
We're doing some boat trips with Naknek this weekend out of Friday Harbor and I was just curious if any of you have been to the San Juan's recently? If so, how was the viz up there? Really looking forward to a great trip with good folks.

Re: Epi-pens
As a fmr firefighter/ems guy, you will only have access to the pens if the person affected has them or if you are permitted to have them (ems) so it's a moot point. You can assist a person that has them if you are trained enough to help administer them and have some permission. If you fall into none...

Steilacoom Marina
Does anyone know the current status for diving at the Marina? I'd like to go there and check out the wrecks listed in Jeff Carr and Scott Boyd's book. I know it burned last year, but can you get in there and dive now or is it all locked up from shore?
