Re: Suggestions on good entry level camera
There are a lot of good options out there now for the point and shoot. I use the canon G10 with the canon housing and really like what I get out of it. It also is a great camera above the water. A G12 and Canon case would probably be about $650-700 and it would take a long time to grow out of that s...

Re: NW Dive Sites; Better or Worse over time?
Thank you all for your thoughtful discussion. The talk from people that have been here diving long term more or less confirms what I already suspected: diving was a lot-lot-lot better in the "hey days" (probably before most of us even knew about scuba)- think about Jacques Cousteau finding...

Re: Viz Reports Thread
Viz at 3T was at least 30' at depth- call it 40-50' and down- really good.

Re: NW Dive Sites; Better or Worse over time?
I worked with some folks who have dove here years and years ago and they maintained that it was worse as time went on- primarily from overfishing; that is consistent with the WFW putting in rockpiles to create more habitat for fish. I think most folks aren't aware of the super-long cycle times for m...

NW Dive Sites; Better or Worse over time?
I know thus question has probably been asked before on here but I couldn't find it. Are there folks on here that have been diving the northwest for a long time and still do that have seen a change for better or worse in the general dive conditions? I haven't dove here long enough to say but my gener...

Re: Seven Seas Scuba Theft
There was an Oceanic Excursion BCD, a Scubapro Nighthawk BCD, Oceanic Datamask, Oceanic VT3 were some of the bigger things. I don't know the details on cameras but I know they were housings - no cameras. I'm trying to get a fuller list right now.

Seven Seas Scuba Theft
Folks, Seven Seas Scuba in Vancouver was the victim of a smash and grab last night. They broke out the front door and took a bunch of stuff before the cops arrived. Please keep an eye out for brand-new gear being sold on craigs or ebay from the local area. They got camera gear, some BCD's and more t...

Pac Adventure Dives 9-25
Diving Pac Adventure this weekend....anyone want to join us? Don runs a great boat and the viz in the canal is supposed to be really nice right now. Give Seven Seas Scuba a holler if you are interested. Besides the epic diving, I like the espresso, warm cookies and hot dogs he gives out when we are ...

Re: Clear Lake Aug 20th
It was a good set of dives there; the viz on the north end was really good. Aaron, I'm not sure if we met- I think we did. You may have been the gentleman from Corvallis I remember met us at the Newport fingers a few years ago too. I was hanging out with the tall redhead- Dea (wife and manager of th...

Clear Lake Aug 20th
We are diving Clear Lake as part of the shop trip from Seven Seas Scuba- it would be cool to see some of ya there if possible. It will include (but not limited to) high altitude diving, pictures of such, friendly camaraderie, BBQ and drink, and if you are intrepid enough to stay the evening, cigars ...

Sunday-sunday-sunday!
Anyone diving on Sunday in the Canal or sound? I would like to get wet, have a hall-pass, and I can actually dive pretty well (ask those who have survived being with me). I take lots of pix and work well as a third wheel. I'm rescue certed- and have 200+ mostly cold dives in my book. I'm friendly an...

Alki Junkyard
I wrote a blog entry for some dives we did at Alki Junkyard a bit ago. You can tell from the write up, I was fascinated by the dive briefing which detailed some of the history of the area.

Tacoma and south
Guys and gals, I want to dive on Friday. The hood is out- I hear it is pea soup. I don't want to dive les davis. Any suggestions on good dive sites tacoma and/or south? I was thinking about Lobster shop wall maybe- but it is fairly deep I think. Can you dive the steilacoom marina now? is it good or ...

Re: Squid at Alki Junkyard
I thought I would put in a few pix of the squid action. I have another short video but the squid is just sitting very still on the eggs and looking at me with it's big eye.

Any one know what this squid is doing? I thought it was the mama squid for these eggs but I couldn't figure out what it was doing with this action. A friend thought it was preparing to lay another egg maybe.

Cool video----kinda weird with all the burn damage. i was watching another one on you vimeo feed of a wreck in the canal- looked much shallower from the ambient light. Was it fun to check out? How deep was that one?

That's a great idea- the "post anonymizer"-- folks you don't care to hear about get a voice like the teacher from Charlie Brown---"Wha-wa, wa-waa-wa-wa. Wan-a-wana wa...." I already have a voice filter like that for Matt on my Iphone so I can snicker as he talks...

Re: Artificial Reefs and the DNR
Dsteding- I think your offer of help is great. I also agree that it is something that needs more political clout from the top, not the bottom. Even if you look at it as a purely economic gain, call it environmentally neutral, it is something worth considering. Mike Racine seemed to think that the sc...
