Re: Hood Canal

Nice pics, thanks for sharing! I'm hoping to do the 'Rock on Friday July 8th before we head over to the Tacoma side that night for the club dive the next day!

Re: Channel Islands ...

Oh, wow, Bob, thanks for sharing those pics. And thanks to the others for sharing the words. I did a four day with them back in end of September/first of October 2010 and I'm SO jonesing to go back. This thread just fired those thoughts RIGHT back up. :) When I went I agree, my favorite dive was Far...

Can I buddy up with you at the club dive on July 9th and perhaps increase my chances of actually seeing one of these things!? It's on my todo list!! :)

Congrats! So jealous when I see kids learning to dive. I feel gipped because I didn't learn until I was 38! Enjoy, both of you.

I'll have a cam w/ a gerry-rigged light (not exactly a strobe) by the... maybe I will get to SEE and PHOTOGRAPH a lumpy at the July 9th club dive! I want to dive with anyone who is identified as a lumpy-whisperer to improve my chances of seeing one.

Thank you John - I will be there on the 9th. I responded on that forum. Being new - I may need to be paired up with someone more advanced (I am comfortable, but not experienced enough to be "lead" with another Noob). TTYL, Chad Chad, excellent! I went to my first club dive last year and i...

Aha! That was my thought, but someone at the shop we filled up at said no.

But yup, that's it! Looked like this, sorta: http://www.eoearth.org/files/133101_133 ... edtide.jpg

Almost afraid to ask: what was that pink skum at Three Tree?

Last night we got in at Three Tree around 7pm. Awesome vis -- along the shore the water was *crystal clear* and there was no sign of any thing odd. Vis down below was awesome, and we had a great dive. As we came up from that first dive, we didn't notice much amiss. Three great NW Dive Club members h...

Re: Club dive! Club dive! Club dive! July 9th at Redondo!

Hey scube_noob, here's a good site description/map of Redondo: http://www.theperfectdive.com/DEF-Site.asp?sID=2 It is a good site -- some deep options for those that want it, but lots of stuff shallow, too. Ropes to follow... the site is coming back after a devastating storm some months ago (last fa...

Re: The 'Dond is paying off again ...

So when will these little cuties be all grown up? I have YET to see one. And the kicker? I WAS AT REDONDO TODAY, but just toured around to say hi to folks and then went to Cove 2. Got in two great dives, but I'm really wanting to add the little lumpsucker to my "seen it" list and so far......

You LIKE your first dates to be unoriginal? Or was that a typo? Yes, crutches limit you -- a wheelchair less so. Seriously, what's better -- getting around more... or not? Get one and you can do just about anything you'd normally do except hiking, etc. Go to a gallery. Walk along the waterfront. Per...

Re: Dead fish inquiry

The ORCA buoys are reporting new-hypoxic conditions at depth; stress level conditions start around 40.

Could be. Perhaps someone with more smarts than me can expand upon that.

I have developed a new philosophy when traveling:

Pack carefully, taking only what you really need. Then pay whatever it is the airlines are charging for baggage. It's not worth the worry.

Loving your reports in -- saw Billy from Seven Seas in Vancouver, WA walking around in his and about bowled him over to get a look at it. It's on my radar -- not at the top of my "needs" list as my White's Fusion is still keeping me dry. But... it's very tempting. Time to upgrade my BC fir...

I've yet to enter the realm of owning ten sets of fins, but I feel it coming. :) I'm still running the TUSA X-Part Zoom's I bought for Open Water. A year and a half and almost 100 dives later and I'm no longer loving them. (Tried a friend's Hollis F1 and kinda liked them; going to try the Scubapro J...

Re: Off gassing.

The issue may be that during attempts to equalize, you will swallow some air. A number of the maneuvers used involve holding air in the throat and pushing it... some of it will end up swallowed. I'm not a doctor but it makes sense to me. I don't often have burps underwater, but watch out after surfa...

Re: Viz Reports Thread

A little late, but data points nonetheless... Friday May 20th Sund Rock was running 5 until depth and then maybe 10 if you were lucky. Thick layer of little sea monkey beasties -- krill I think. Mike's Beach on 21st and 22nd was a wide mix based on time of day and depth, from 3ft to 20 ft. Lots of l...
