Re: Crabbing at Mukilteo

They have started to do asbestos mitigation and they are starting to dismantle the dock. There are buoys around the dock warning boaters to stay away. The other day my buddy saw a boat enter the work zone to drop some pots and they were approached by a work boat almost immediately and told to leave....

Don't forget that they now charge for parking at the T-dock.

6/8 Keystone Jetty 15 - 20 feet. Once the fog burned off it was beautiful sunshine. It's been a long time since I dove there it was just as I remembered it. Great day for a drive on Whidbey Island.

Re: Mukilteo T-Dock [Under Construction]

Thanks for the info. I went and looked at the dock area yesterday and so far they only have the orange mesh construction fencing installed to prevent access to the dock from shore. Sure would have been nice if they could have allowed us to crab there in July. Oh well now the hunt is on to find anoth...

Re: OMS Doubles valves need crossbar

I've used OMS doubles valves for years. There was a lot of discussion about the o-ring seals being "face" and not "barrel" (I am probably not using the correct terminology) and that there could be some potential failures. I never had an issue. I still use mine. Problem is with OM...

Thanks for posting this I can only imagine how difficult this was for you and group to do.
I think it is important for all of us to be able to learn from this tragedy. Ron in his untimely passing has given us one final lesson. He was an instructor to the end.

Re: Tips and tricks for chasing drysuit leaks?

I've always turned my suit inside out and done the "Michelin" man test and when I do I use a spray bottle with a soap solution and spray in the area where I have been getting wet. The air inside the suit seeping out will cause soap bubbles to form and then you can mark with a pencil or pie...

Welcome aboard.

Lots of great dive buddies on here not too many freedivers. There is a very active local freediving group they have a group on Yahoo and they go by the name of Bottom Sounders.

Re: Does today's rain means tomorrow's bad viz?

Other than storm drain outflow our rule of thumb when diving Everett - Mukilteo is 3 days after a big rain like we just had the viz will be bad. Edmonds is kind of a crap shoot sometimes great sometimes not. Having said that I think that you would be OK with the viz on Tuesday. Enjoy the dive! Mike

I remember when a 5 watt UK400 was a big deal and we used to look on with envy the people that had a 30 watt UK800R.

Boy how times have changed.

Re: Mukilteo T-Dock

One other thing is that we never sought permission to put in the buoy. We just did it and never heard from anyone about it. This is not to say that it is OK to do this without approval. These are the sorts of things best done under the cover of darkness and the less said about it the better. One day...

Re: Mukilteo T-Dock

It has been a long time since I have dove the T-dock but there used to be an up line from the pyramid concrete block in 130 FSW that went to a 30 gallon barrel. The surface buoy was attached to that sub surface buoy. We tried to set it at about 15 feet under water. At extreme low tides the top of th...

One other thing I noticed in lookinig at the PDF is that there are a lot of "potential" things that they might do. Nothing appears to be firm.

Re: Future of Mukilteo Diving

Well if this progresses as well as the rest of the government projects around here we will probably be able to dive this location for a long time. I wonder what the thinking is behind creating a "potential" MPA at that location unless they are going to put in some structure that will hold ...

Re: Future of Mukilteo Diving

I agree that it is better to work with someone rather than hold something over their head however this is a pattern that has repeated itself for years in Mukilteo. We are losing dive sites left and right and the people that are removing them don't care about the impact to divers. At some point we ne...

Re: Future of Mukilteo Diving

Another dive site gone. Very sad. I have been diving this site for 25 years and we have had to fight to keep access to it. The Edgewater site is not a good idea. They obviously have no idea how this will affect divers and they probably don't care. Due to the muddy, shallow bottom this site would onl...

They built the new Boeing pier right over the boat reef. It is located right in the middle of where the barges are moored and they really do not like divers at that site. Don't ask me how I know.
