Re: Aspiration pneumonia
my bet is saltwater mist from your reg.. there could have been some small obstruction or something stuck on the exhalation diaphragm, so as you inhale, it doesn't seal firmly.. just enough to get some saltwater mist in there. http://archive.rubicon-foundation.org/xmlui/handle/123456789/7643 To chec...

Re: Aspiration pneumonia
Hmm.. Very good question, my guess is Aspiration Pneumonia could only be caused if you inhaled small amounts of seawater.. i.e. a leak in your inhalation diaphragm so small that mist of saltwater is inhaled and you dont even realize it.. What about Immersion Pulmonary Edema? Why do you ask? and wha...

My pleasure Keith, I had a very enjoyable dive with everyone. Sounds like the vis at Octopus Hole was less than desired.

Re: Another lesson learned today
There are many schools of thought on this subject. It is ultimately up to the Individual diver to research the information available, gain the necessary experience and training , then make an informed decision.

Re: Another lesson learned today
A 100ft maximum depth on non-helium mixes just seems very conservative and makes a visit to the boat a very expensive dive to do properly. Completely agree. Been there on air many, many times. Not for everyone, I know. But nothing at all wrong with it for an experienced diver. +1, Well defined Josh

Re: Jb today
I was thinking of purchasing the Nomad JT, alas I am unable to decide on the correct weighting configuration. For use where? Purely as a preemptive measure towards future penetration goals. Sure but where? Truk, Puget Sound, FL, MX? I looked at the JT and decided I couldn't make it work for my plan...

Re: Jb today
Is there a similarity between back mount and side mount, as far as amount of weight used ? Have you found that you need more ? I use pretty the same in both back mounted and side mounted hp100s. If I am remembering correctly, your using the Hollis ? I'm using the Nomad XT. I was thinking of purchas...

Re: Jb today
What are you using for a weight setup? The Razor T weight? In Lake WA I used both the waist and lumbar parts of the T-weight system with the Razor. In FL I just used 6lbs on the waist section of the Razor T-weight strap. The Hollis wing is completely different and for that I added 6lbs at my should...

Re: Bouyancy characteristics of steel 45
I concur with your statement, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.Thought they might be good for transfilling O2 and future cave training. They do seem quite heavy at 26lbs to an al 40's 15lb. It is imaginable that they could hold about 60 cu, not for O2 though.

Re: Side Mount Deco Bottles
It looks like you have moved your hose clamp up considerably, about how many inches from base? Measure down from the top to where you want the valve to ride. Those are pretty far back, so might be hard to read MOD labels or gauges (although I don't see any labeling on those anyway, maybe on the ins...

Re: Side Mount Deco Bottles
Thanks everyone for all the info, it has all been appreciated. It is nice to get some practical experience and information. Looks like I just need to get into the water and see what needs adjusted. I've put together a preliminary setup and will go foward from there. Thanks again.....

Re: Side Mount Deco Bottles
Sounds easy enough, are you clipping in at all into the upper stage clip? Pics that I have seen show upper clip rotated up and semi fixed, and then bungee is run through upper clip. That would be the "dive-rite" strategy. I have no idea why they use the stage strap clips at all honestly. ...

Re: Side Mount Deco Bottles
Most people put a d ring on the lower half of the shoulder strap positioned between the waist and the chest to hook the top bolt snap to. Then hook the lower bolt snap to the butt plate and use the bungee to pull it up under the arm and stabilize it. I am tall so I can hook the lower bolt snap to m...

Re: Side Mount Deco Bottles
Looks like it makes a big difference in your stream lining, and is a good way to tuck a couple of 80's in tighter to your body. I agree that the difference is probably marginal on handling and task loading. I also plan on keeping the regular stage strap and just not using the top clip, that way you ...
