Pickles Deli Reef, 6/27/19
Work took me out to the south end of Whidbey Island this morning, so I thought I'd bring some gear along (my appetite) and catch an off slack dive at Pickles Deli before the lunch tide crowd showed up. Upon arrival I discovered some inconsiderate divers had vandalized a light pole in the parking lot...

Re: Viz Reports Thread
Whytecliff aka Canadian Cove 2 on Sunday, 6/23/19. Did two dives in the main bay with a newer diver. Vis was 2-3 ft down to 20 fsw, then blossomed to 5 ft for a bit. Big thermocline at 30 fsw, and then it started opening up a bit more into the 10-15 ft range. We didn't get any deeper than 60 ft or v...

Re: Edmonds 6/22?
High slack tomorrow looks like it’s just after 8 am, so 6 am would work quite well. If you felt like sleeping in you could show up a little later also and still be fine. Usually with Edmonds I do one long dive right around high tide, and then we just deal with a little reduced viz and a small amount...

Key Largo, 6/8/19
I just got back from a week in South Florida. The main purpose of the trip was to visit my wife's Aunt in Miami Beach, lay on the beach and to eat cuban food, but we also went down to Key Largo for the weekend to stay at her Aunt's boyfriends place for a few nights. I was able to get out for a whole...

Fantastic even though the wind kept us off the boat for most of it. Chris and Ed say hi! I’ll post a report when I get back from Florida and get caught up on pictures.YellowEye wrote:

No shots of nipple sponges?! Lame
Gorgeous photos as always. That one with the jelly is especially cool. Glad to hear that Jess got her neck seal fixed! How were the currents in the narrows? Looks like the kelp was streaming pretty good!

Deception Pass-Mothers Day weekend warm up report
Last Sunday I got to join in on some fun at Deception Pass. I've had one mediocre boat dive there on the south side of Pass Island a couple years ago but only recently felt like I could possibly handle shore diving from the beach. Thanks to Yelloweye's awesome dive briefing (serious thanks!!!) my fr...

Re: Travel to Roatan
A bunch of the Sea Tac hotels have the same long term parking deals. I wouldn’t wait too long to book though. We tried two months out for our upcoming trip to Florida and they were pretty much all full. We flew to Bonaire through Vancouver BC last year because it was $600 cheaper a ticket. It was al...

Re: Far north ThThTh 5/2/19. Skyline-nasty and nude
Very cool! Awesome to hear about the nudi's. Not sure I get the nasty crab reference. A few months ago we found a huge old lithoid crab at Skyline that had so much stuff growing on it we couldn’t really ID it. I even took a picture of it and it didn’t even look like a crab. My buddy started calling...

Far north ThThTh 5/2/19. Skyline-nasty and nude
Last Thursday I had to work out on Orcas Island, and since the tides were great I meet my friend Matt for an after-work swim at Skyline in Anacortes when I got off the ferry. Once we got down to depth the vis opened up into a nice although silty 15 ft or so. Although we failed on spotting any pskc's...

Re: End of April adventure - shark!
Awesome shots Jess. There are sooooooooooooooo many of those Aeolids on Whidbey right now!!!!!!!!! I thought there were a lot at Keystone until last night in Anacortes where there were literally thousands. I like the shrimp riding the jelly too. I've seen that before and always laugh through my reg.

I still live too far away! One of these days I'll make it down. If anyone has the day off tomorrow we can have a far north ThThTh in Anacortes The tides are looking good for a pskc and candie hunt!

Re: Skookumchuck Narrows video short
That was really REALLY nice! Thanks for sharing. I watched a bear once across the channel from observation wall try to swim between islands and get completely flushed out about 20 ft from his destination. Luckily it eddied out where it started but it sure looked like it was struggling for a bit!

Blown away by Keystone, 4/27/19
Last Saturday I was buddy-less for joining the in-crowd under the bridge, but luckily I convinced my friend Austin to come out of self-imposed retirement to take advantage of the good Keystone tide. The gale warning wasn't exactly great news, but I hoped that the jetty would protect the area enough ...

Re: Keystone Sunday the 28th?
Just double checking with folks who are more familiar with Keystone- is Sunday AM a good time to dive that site? It looks like minimal current between slacks of 9:30 to 12:30? You are correct. It’s going to be great current wise! Get in the water by 9 am for maximum enjoyment. I was out there this ...
