Re: proper sized bc for doubles
People may say 40 pounds is adequate, but make sure it can float your rig with full tanks if you boat dive . . . I bet 50% of the BP/W rigs people use around here (especially single tank rigs) won't because of the use of large steel singles, can lights and lead weight on cam bands and such. But, wha...

Re: je boyden
This whole thread is a step into the wayback machine, and not in a good way. To summarize, there is "Camp A" and "Camp B." Camp A's usual gripe is line being left on wrecks, and they will strongly suggest it is cave divers--who are a huge component of "Camp B." Camp B w...

Re: Scubro DIR Tec systems?
I'd be really surprised if they could trademark DIR. GUE tried, and was unsuccessful. I'm with Bob. This is a marketing ploy, and I doubt it will lure many people away from established and popular gear choices, unless the price is REALLY irresistible. Halcyon had an application filed once, not sure...

About two years old, battery burns fine last time I checked, been stored well. Usual scratches on the canister, thumb loop on Goodman handle. This still has the Anderson connectors instead of the newer banana plugs, but has the dry lid and remote ballast. Thought I'd post locally before putting it o...

Nice Polaris RIB on Craig's List
For those of you familiar with Richard's boat, this might be similar-although not aluminum and it looks like a bit less deck room.

Okay . . . I just got news that would motivate a trip to Keystone, no matter how much I don't want to drive three hours after. You guys may get to meet a set of Southern California superstars! Two of my dearest friends . . . but we have to convince them that Keystone isn't a dive site you scooter :...

Fun dive site, that rock at high tide is iffy. I remember anchoring on that rock and having maybe three feet of water under my keel.
Glad no one was hurt.

$16.5k, boat/trailer/motor. I have tons of extra stuff, but those are out of the package at that price.ljjames wrote:what does "dropped considerably" mean? (or did i miss that in the post)

Re: Selling the boat
Dredging this up. Price has dropped considerably, and there is some interest from a few parties. If I can sell locally to another diver I'd be happy to. So, if you've had any interest in boat ownership now is the time to get a DIALED boat for scuba diving at a ridiculous price. Send me a PM. Tons mo...

Re: anybody know a good mechanic?
Bob, One thing to think about in terms of a new ride is payload capacity. People think if it fits in the car, the car is good to go, but your test results sounds like that small Element was ridden hard and put away wet (TWSS). I bet if you look it up, the payload for that rig is ~750 pounds, tops. ...

I do. I'll admit it. He popped up on TDS the other day, and it reminded me of old times.

Okay, I am officially really ticked at Richard. I needed to sleep last night, but instead I had a dream that I showed up for today's dive in my undergarment but with only a pair of shortie pajamas underneath it. Then I dropped a gauge and mount in the water, and dove in after it (soaking said under...
