I had a couple excellent dives at Sunnyside beach today -- The vis was much improved over 2 weeks ago! I saw a Pacific Spiny Lumpsucker and noticed a lot of very tiny creatures that I never saw before. I tried to get a picture of that little guy but I was way too slow and fumbling around :( Oh well ...

Is there any decent diving at Willipa Bay or Grays Harbor?

I know thats Washington and we are speaking here in a Oregon forum but its just a tad closer for me then Puget Sound.
(And I have reletives in Astoria that I can visit or stay with if I wander over that way)

I would also be interested to know if this is a possible dive site.

I was just diving in a Janna class last weekend with a DC800. First time I dove with it with a strobe only my 3rd time overall diving with a camera. Perhaps more could be said about checking your gauge on a regular basis in Open water class.
I wonder if both divers were new? It appears neither knew how little air they had left.

I am new but I am a nut about checking it every couple of minutes.

I am a new diver and I like the information in this book on the dive sites. Certainly I would use one of the excellent books like Marine Life of the Pacific Northwest: A Photographic Encyclopedia of Invertebrates, Seaweeds And Selected Fishes for any creature identification needs :) I love that book...

I have never dove in a dry suit -- Would this be a good place to get a taste of that?

This is something I would be very interested in doing, but I have a trip up north planned for this weekend.

I would also be down for some charter runs out of Newport. Anything that brings decent diving closer to Portland is always a plus.
