Real-Time Buoy Video

For boat dive planning we have GPS, Weather Forecasts, Tide/Current Predictors, etc. How about some Real-time Video? Below is a link to one of the buoy's installed by Mobilisa - a Port Townsend based company. It's the one on the North end of Marrowstone Island. http://buoy.icmobil.com/buoymain/publi...

Re: Beautiful day diving with Pacadventures

I was only able to get one semi-good underwater picture due to camera fog.
Note to self: Don’t leave camera in dry suit pocket during surface interval on hot days! :tappingfoot:

Re: Discovery Bay

Once you find the shallow spot on the Fault, it's better to motor shoreward before you anchor. Anchorage is better and there are less critters to disturb or smush when dropping the hook. #-o Look for 35 to 45ft of water. FWIW, here is another site to look at. If it works for you, move your mouse aro...

Re: Anchored on (near) the Governor?

The cable ship Global Sentinel has been in and around Admiralty Inlet since March 12. The Global Sentinel, homeported in Portland, Ore., is scheduled to spend seven days repairing a broken telecommunications cable. According to the U.S. Coast Guard Seattle office, the cable was damaged when it was s...

It's still there. It finally dawned on me to check with CG 13th District Notice to Mariners. Re: Anchored on (near) the Governor?

Last year while diving Race Rocks the boat captain tells us, before we entered the water, "Oh yea, and watch out for the fan blades if you get blown off the wall." This is what he was referring to: http://racerocks.com/racerock/energy/tidalenergy/videncana.htm As it turned out, we had bigg...

Re: Anchored on (near) the Governor?

I recently learned that Snohomish Co. PUD has a FERC permit to investigate tidal power generation in Admiralty Inlet and would be doing stuff out there in the near future. Since Mark Allen told me that, I'm guessing it might be related. You are probably correct. I have heard of this as well. Howeve...

Anchored on (near) the Governor?

Before I left work today, my boss called to tell me there is a ship anchored on or near the SS Governor. So, I took the scenic route home to have a look see. Sure enough, it's appears to be pretty darn close. When I got home I went to the Live-Ships website to see who it was. Here is what I found: 1...

Re: Comfort Swivel

A year or so ago, a dive buddy of mine installed a swivel to eliminate some of the discomfort problems discussed above. I don't know if it was a cheap or expensive one. While approaching the end of the dive and ascending to his safety stop, the o-ring in the swivel blew out. He switched to h...

Everyone, including the manufacturers confuses the purpose of Aquaseal, it's a sealant not a glue. Totally Agree. Solution: http://www.jpwinc.com/index.php?page=products&item_no=4405hlfpt This is also known as "DUI Cement". In my experiences, there is no need to use the accelerator. A...

Re: thoughts on dive schools

Hi Kat, I think you are on the right track. I agree wholeheartedly to the comment about “lots of diving between certifications”. For now, most of your diving should be working and concentrating on mastering buoyancy control. I went 10 years between Open Water and Advanced Open Water. However, in my ...

You surface from a WSU dive, and upon reaching the surface, you immediately see that your computer is indicatin...

How did this happen?

Hi all, my name is Mark and I too am a Dive-a-holic. I am a long time lurker of this site and for reasons unknown to me, have decided to come out of the closet. The other day I mixed up a glass of kool-aid, sat down at the computer, and drank it. Presto, here I am! Actually I do know why I came out ...
