Re: A Game Changer in Underwater Photography
From the details described in the paper this technique would likely only be practical on still, fixed subjects. It requires many shots from various angles to measure distance to subject and light sources. It was designed for photogrammetry and reef surveys where many shots from all angles are availa...

Sunrise with Warbonnets
If you have had enough of Octos, Wolfeels, and Scallops at Sunrise Reef there seems to be an good population of Mosshead Warbonnets present. The last three times I've dove the site in the last month I've been lucky enough to find one or two. Definitely one of my favorite fish. :) Sunrise and Zees Re...

Even more from God's Pocket - Oct 1-5 2019
Looks like lots of us visited God's Pocket this season! We really should try to coordinate this as an annual event. As you've all heard by now the resort is as great as ever under the new management. I was able to visit in both Spring and Fall this year and had top notch staff on both visits. Chris,...

Re: ThThTh Back to School Edition
What a great get together this week! Big turnout, great water conditions, and lots of life out and about at Redondo. I was very happy to see a larger number of sea stars, healthy, and even some Sunflowers! Here are a few of my pics from the evening: Redondo Pier September 05, 2019 (74 of 108).JPG Re...

Re: Truth Aquatics Conception Boat Fire Tragedy
Speaking of lithium battery chargers: I've been reading up on this and found that Drones use a particularly volatile battery type called Lithium Polymer. This is different from the Lithium Ion batteries we find in Lights and Cameras. It seems that they are so volatile that there are Dozens of produc...

Re: Regulator service
A few ways to make an informed decision: 1) Buy an IP Gauge for $10 to see if your 1st stage has an IP in spec and stable or has drifted out of spec (should be 130-140 psi) 2) Remove the 2nd Stage purge cover and see if everything is clean without debris or scaled on junk 3) Put the 2nd Stage pressu...

ThThTh 8/15
We had another great turnout this week at ThThTh in Redondo. We had at least 10 divers, maybe a couple more? The weather was great and the vis was a pretty good 15ft for about 30 minutes of the dive. The high tide reversed and we got a pretty dramatic thermocline and clarity of the water dropped sig...

Re: Not something I've seen...
That's pretty great! I got a pretty nice shot of one of the Amphipods in a PMH a few weeks ago.
(BTW, also getting a very low res image upload. This is under 300K locally and looks sharp. Very fuzzy in the post.)
