Re: Hello from Blighty.

Hi I'm looking to move to the Seattle area from the UK in the near future. (when your Gov decides to let me in your wonderful country) I'm a 75m (250ft) hypoxic trimix CCR diver and will be qualified to 100m by the time I get there. I'm a lover of wrecks and have a serious lust for rust. Can you te...

That is sad. Condolences. From what I've been able to glean, it sounds like his partner had some kind of uncontrolled ascent? And perhaps he followed her up?

Re: Epi-Pen in a Wetsuit?

There's a lot of supposition here that jellys are cross reaction with hymenoptera (bees, wasps etc). They are completely different classes of organisms. They might or might not have ANY cross reactivity at all. Perhaps the best approach would be discuss this with your allergist and possibly look in...

That's pretty epic! This sort of thing is my incentive for advancing my tech diving skills. Nothing wrong with wanting to learn more, but this ain't a tech dive- it's in +/- 60 feet of water. Lake Washington is a challenging environment, to be sure (crappy viz, dark, lack of visual references, etc)...

Re: Fs - pony bottle setup, new

Don't waste your money - The Spare Air is pretty much useless in an OOA situation, worse than useless if you feel more secure by having it. 13 CF bottles are primarily used as argon bottles but I guess if you're doing shallow dives then it would be helpful in an emergency. You have a nice set-up, i...

Can someone do me a huge favor and hit Curtis in the head with a lead weight while he is in the water. I don't want him to forget about me. I'll let him tell the story. Glad to know you are back and finally gonna get wet again Amigo! Geez, I still have a huge scar from the last 2 pounder you mauled...

Ok now I gotta rewatch that for like...the 50th time. Awesome quotes. Hell Yes. Let me be clear about one thing: we are not a gang, we're more like a social club. Which is kind of more like a tribe. A tribe of people brought together by common interests and dispositions. Since we are United by our ...

Re: New to forum wish to speak with someone about group

I'd wake up and there'd be nothing. I hardly said a word to my wife, until I said "yes" to a divorce. When I was here, I wanted to be there; when I was there, all I could think of was getting back into the jungle. I'm here a week now... waiting for a mission... getting softer. Every minute...

Hey, man, you don't talk to the Colonel. You listen to him. The man's enlarged my mind. He's a poet warrior in the classic sense. I mean sometimes he'll... uh... well, you'll say "hello" to him, right? And he'll just walk right by you. He won't even notice you. And suddenly he'll grab you...

Awesome post Bob. One lesson I have learned along the way is that there...

Re: What defines a "Stroke" diver?

The term started back in the days of when the "Doing It Right" (DIR) principles were founded by the ever colorful George Irvine.. He was a very pompous and arrogant (although very capable and skilled) diver at the time that used to do cutting edge dives and exploration in the Cave systems...

I think it's poor form to leave these lines in Lake Crescent ... it being a National Park and all. I think it better if people pick up their line after their dive, and leave the park in as natural a state as possible once you're done playing. ... Bob (Grateful Diver) This. Re: Leftover Guide Lines in Lake Crescent

It's one of my pet peeves. I hate it when line is left all over for no good reason. For some reason, this topic is controversial, but I have trouble understanding why. We find line all over wrecks like the AJ Fuller on a regular basis. I don't get it. The only time I don't mind it is when someone ru...

Re: Driving over altitude after diving - best practices?

It's a funny puzzle. But if you think of the entire atmosphere of the planet as being the same as 33 feet of salt water, driving over a 5,000' pass is kind of like ascending an additional 2 or 3 feet. (too lazy to do the real math, but I'm sure someone will correct me even though I'm close enough). ...

Re: Driving over altitude after diving - best practices?

Personally, I pay no attention to altitude gain after diving- including flying. One exception for me might be the "week of 3 dives a day using a liberal computer algorithm," because those folks seem to be the ones who get bent when they fly.
