Hood Canal Pinnacle Dive on Saturday, May 19th

Dove with Don Brewer on his boat to Pinnacle yesterday. Viz was amazing for the first 25 feet - you could see the top of the pinnacle from the surface. From 35 to 45 feet - viz was crud at about 5 to 10 feet (10 feet being too generous); from 50 feet - about ten feet and then viz opened up more at a...

Re: Sunday boat dive 5-20

Hi Don! I am interested in either Saturday or early Sunday. My wife and I are staying near Hoodsport for the weekend and I'd love to dive either Flagpole or the Pinnacle on Hood Canal. That being said - if you are interested in having me join you for Saturday (for any Hood Canal locaation) - let me ...

Boat Dive on 5/26 at Shangrila and China Wall

I am planning a boat dive to Shangrila (Blakely Rock Reef) and China Wall on Saturday, May 26th. This weekend (May 26-27) offers the lowest current exchanges of the month. Between 6AM and 3PM, the current goes from slack to -.4 knots to slack to -.5 knots. I have a 27 foot Glastron boat that has eno...

Re: Sunny Weather!

Wow! These are really great shots! What kind of camera setup were you using? And - how deep was the pic taken with the rock fish and sponges?

I've only dove Flagpole once - did you "swim for it?" or have a boat??

Thanks, Keith

Boeing Creek Reef on 5/6/12

On Sunday, Gordon Friang joined me to explore Boeing Creek Reef for the first time. We splash just an hour after low tide - so we weren't expecting the greatest viz (on a large exchange). However - we were rewarded with a great dive and the viz was actually around 20 feet, once we go below 20 feet. ...

Re: Jorstad Creek & Octopus Hole

I dove this dive area once before, but without a guide. We never did find the main wall. Any tips on how to find the wall? The dive map that is posted on several sites did not seem to match with where we looked for the wall. on the other hand - viz wasn't all that great when we went - so maybe we ju...

Boat Dive 4/22 at KVI Tower and Alki Reef

Went with Duncan and Andre to KVI towers for the first dive. Wind was so calm - and the water and sunshine was spectacular! Viz was 10 feet at best until we went below 40 feet - then viz opened up to 25 feet. Lots of rockfish, especially between 70 and 115 feet. Andre spotted a GPO out in the open i...

Re: Boat Dive on Saturday Morning!

H20 Doctor: I've never dove Boeing Creek before - tried to find it by boat and depthfinder - but did not spot it. Any tips on location? I didn't see any buoys in the area - I'm assuming you anchor for this one?

I thought the pelagics were mainly in the area in late Summer/early Fall. Is this usually a good time of year to make this trip?

Re: New Year's Eve dive?

I'll be at Sund Rock at 9AM. Look for a Blue Highlander. Hood SportnDive opens at 8:00AM for you to get your ticket for the day. They are located right in Hoodsport (about 3 miles from the dive site).
