Re: Fukushima theory gaining traction?

Gee, I wonder who I should believe? The guy who's business would profit from a Fukushima hysteria, but chooses not to; or the guy who would personally profit from a Fukushima hysteria, and throws gasoline on the flames? http://www.dailypaul.com/303251/fukushima-fear-mongering-is-unfounded-nuclear-po...

Re: Kitsap instructors?

Sound Dive shop has monthly dives. I would point him/her in that direction. The owner is a nice guy, sometimes few on words but means well! I'm trying not to laugh as I read this... Sorry, I didn't pay my dues this year... I'm not sure if Peter is still teaching out of Tacoma Scuba, but he does his...

Re: Sea star die-off

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmx4twCK3_I I fully understand the hysteria surrounding Fukushima, but I'm curious if there was a similar starfish die-off after all of the nuclear bomb testing in the Pacific, Chernobyl or any of the filter media flushes the Navy did in the 50's and 60's. I'm not try...

Re: Scooter carry on???

Just be ready to open up the bag. I brought my rebreather to Bonaire and the biggest issue I had with it was in Atlanta during my layover. SEATAC seems to be well trained when it comes to dive gear.

Re: Dive Accident in Nanaimo

From what I saw it was a little scattered. Please don't take this as being calloused however... I truly feel incidents such as these need to be harshly critiqued to get as many lessons learned as possible. I find that most of these lessons are swept under the rug to 'protect' the victim's memory and...

Thanks, I was lucky enough to have Uncle Sam pay for most of those trips.
I was amazed with all the life on the Diamond Knot. I kinda wish I was able to dive it prior to the superstructure started coming down.

Re: Diving the Diamond Knot

U-853 off Block Island, USS Rochester in Subic Bay, my trip to Puerto Gallera and a tug off Charleston, SC that I got caught in 20+ Ft seas on the way back (it was the first OW class that I taught). I guess I should have said most memorable.

I think there were a couple more in the other direction, but not much more. It may not be a dive I would seek out to do again, but it's worth the drive if only to get some pretty good vis for a change.

Re: Lake Crescent Underwater Forest

I'll try to download the small bit of video I have on it... but we entered the water at the point to the far west of the cabins at the Lake Crescent Lodge (where the creek enters the lake). We swam out to the SSW at a depth of approx. 50 feet for 15 minutes. We found a couple of upright trees and a ...

You guys did exactly what you should have. Since this is a recovery and not a rescue, you would want to keep as much of his gear intact to help determine what happened.

The story mentions bubbles out of his regulator, but reports also indicated he was in his 40's at one point.

Re: drysuit info?

DUIs may be expensive, but they are bullet proof. I have a buddy with a 10 year old CF200 that has about 500 dives on it. Besides the obvious seals that he has had to replace, it has been good for him. I have had a CLX450 for almost a year now, and I am very pleased with both the suit and the servic...
