Re: Cave divers perish at Blood Grotto

JP, I have no experience with MX, but can speak to Florida. IF a cavern is open to OW divers almost all of them have a CAVERN line ran through the cavern, and the CAVE closed off or in accessible. Examples are Ginnie Springs, Blue Grotto, Devils Den (which does not have a line run, but does have the...

Re: Octopus Hole For sale

I thought this was legally squared away? The WSDOT right of way bisects the property and gives access to the water since WSDOT owns far enough out that you aren't walking on private tidelands. Maybe I misunderstood when they attempted and failed to close access before? That was my recollection as w...

Re: Octopus Hole For sale

http://www.johnlscott.com/propertydetail.aspx?IS=1&ListingID=301373463 379,000, a little pricey. Although I support the cause there is little that could be done to improve/modify the property to be more suitable for divers. Maintaining land ownership relations is always a challenge for divers. W...

Re: How do you pack your gear for vacation?

Awesome, I made it to the back of the FL room twice on my last trip to cave country. Actually in my tool box I have the 900 ft and 1100 foot markers from Little River. Jim Wyatt had noticed that those distance markers needed replacement, and we got to replace them on one of my check out dives. I kep...

Cave Diving-Between the Holidays

Is anyone interested in a lil' Dive trip to either Marianna or High Springs FL December 27- Jan 2nd for some Cave Diving at the Full Cave Level? I've been to High Springs a number of times, and will see the Merrit's Mill Pond in August. Austin P.S. Brian don't worry this doesn't mean I'm backing out...

Re: How do you pack your gear for vacation?

Well I'm jealous I was looking at plane tickets to back down around the 4th of July, but I don't think it will work out. I've got to much traveling going on in August (of which it will afford a couple days of cave diving, but not enough). Hopefully Apprentice went well for you too. There is a lot of...

Re: How do you pack your gear for vacation?

I'm down here taking classes from Jim Wyatt, as reccomended by a lot of folks. I'm only going through apprentice, and will be back by next spring to finish up through full cave if my schedule allows. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2 I suspected that you were probably going with J. Wyatt since y...

Re: Anybody have a set of Faber 85s I can borrow for a few d

I may be able to facilitate a transfer between RJ and Lynne. I'll be diving with Bdub this weekend in Seattle, and could take the 85's as far as C2 of Lake WA (depending on dive sites we choose) if Lynne would like to meet me there one day!

Re: Got called an idiot for selling my pony!

I don't think that diving with out a pony is dumb at all, like many people here I've never dove a pony. That being said, I did change the way i think about gas reserves pretty drastically a couple years ago. The important thing isn't that you have a pony. The important thing is that you have a plan ...

There should have been the wall at Jorsted . That wall goes down from 85-120 or so. The wall at Jorsted is the feature part of the dive, especially the rocks right a long the type which is where you're most likely to find octos/wolfies.

fantastic @ flagpole today!

Tom ,

Flagpole is one of those dived that is a "big pain in the rear". I would leave it to people willing to go through more pain and suffering than a site is worth... I certainly wouldn't make a trip for this....

After all west sounders like having this site to themselves...

On a side note I am learning today that St Louis offers more on the way of Breweries than just the Budweiser plant. There are a couple notables here. Although they seem to specialize in Belgians and Wheat Beers, not my personal flavor

And it should be on people's bucket list, but they need to come in with the right mindset and not expect they'll be allowed to go explore freely (they did say they estimate that only 15% of the mine has been explored)!
