Re: Early Sunday Dive....HOT HOT NOT?
How early do you think you would go? I and my husband have been thinking of diving somewhere on Sunday (EUP at dawn but well, viz can be ugly there so maybe not) Thing is that we need to get a babysitter so can't do it at the very early hours...

Re: Viz Reports Thread
7/21 - Redondo. Pretty good viz like 20-30ft(?), somewhat varied with depth and time, looked better below 40ft. We did 2 dives around 12:30pm and 3pm.

Re: Club Dive! Club Dive! Club Dive! SUNDAY July 22!
I would like to come! Some family stuff may get in a way so it's a 90% chance now. "Little buddy" because I have never been to that site. Also I would like to talk to somebody who dives a wing and plate setup - not that I am buying a new gear tomorrow, just very curious! I don't see any be...

Yay for good dive! Thank you a lot for writing here, so much wanted to know how it turned out. I'll surely try to check it out this summer.

Re: Anyone going diving 7/15?
I don't know if they did. I decided to not go (in this thread actually) because my diving skills are no match to these conditions. As I found no other potential buddies I finished stripping the effing deck instead

Re: Anyone going diving 7/15?
And that is a big exchange. So the current will be greater between slacks... ...the water will only be thigh deep for a good distance... Ugh. Your are right, it is -3 ft low according to Narrows chart, imagine that walk in 80F, rocks, gear and drysuit. Sunday timing is all backwards, next high tide...

Re: Anyone going diving 7/15?
Thank you! I would like to try either, with slight preference for the Saltwater State Park because it is an artificial reef structure. The tides on that day are not great, large difference and low tide right in the middle of the day. Is Saltwater doable on a low tide? Or maybe give EUP another try?

Anyone going diving 7/15?
I had to cancel my last weekend plans to dive at T-dock with the shop and did semi-emergency deck stripping chores instead. Of course now I really feel like diving! So, if you are diving on 7/15 within 1-2 hours driving from the Eastside at some site which is not too deep or challenging can I join? ...

Re: Best dive tattoo shop in Seattle or Portland
If you want to wait a little there will be this event in August: http://www.seattletattooexpo.com/ . There should be a lot of artists with their portfolios showing their skills and vision, you can talk to most of them right there at the expo too and see if you "click".

"Ear beer" I did not grow up in US but on the other side of the globe, it is funny that we used the same recipe! I am going to add ear plugs as one more layer of defence now.

Swimmer's ear remedy
Sharing something that came up in the conversation yesterday, prevention of an external ear infection aka "swimmer's ear". My swimming teacher taught us that when I was in high school, that is like, 30 years ago(??) I have been using it often, of course YMMV, and ask your doctor first, etc...

Scuba mask for a narrow face + large nose combo?
So... I have these facial features :) I did 20+ dives in some mask that fit me fine and maybe leaked once. However, last month I began to work out and lost 9 lbs of 'bioprene'. That's great, except my yesterday dive went sour! The mask leaked at the bottom where I think I had some cheek padding befo...

Diving Sat 4/28th morning?
I posted this https://nwdiveclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=27085 in the "Find a Buddy" but now think it should rather go here into a dive planning section, not sure if I can move it though. Basically, I asked if anybody would like to do an easy morning dive somewhere not far from Seattl...

Looking for a dive buddy Sat 4/28 morning, "Seattle-ish" area
Hi! I have been out of the ocean for a month and would really like to get out there before another urgent obstacle comes up. Would somebody like to go to some dive site within 1-1.5 drive from Seattle (minding Saturday traffic, of course :) ) in the morning? I will need to start driving back at ~12:...

Re: Redondo: where did all marine life go?
Eel grass is not kelp, it's a grass so it should be there year around.. it's important for the ecosystem so it's a sad sight to see it missing from so many dive sites. I thought you were referring to the green kelp we often see deeper. Eel grass in the shallow area looked alive but miserable as opp...

Re: Redondo: where did all marine life go?
You said you dismayed at "no green". That's normal, the kelp dies off this part of year. Oh. I hoped that only eel grass dies off! "Green" always harbors some creatures, lack of it could be contributing too. Well, at least visibility was pretty good, and I tested my drysuit afte...

Re: Redondo: where did all marine life go?
Wow, this is exactly what I was wondering about! I also remember Redondo being quite different last October-November - everywhere I looked there was some creature large or small crawling, swimming or just sitting there! Things is, I am really into observing wildlife underwater (read: stare at fishes...
