My buddies just put a h-bird 5 series on their boat, color gps/sounder with the HD and down imaging option. The DI looks slick for diving, I'll let you know about it once I get out on their boat. I know Richard has a h-bird on his boat, I had a lowrance on mine. All seem to work well.

I couldn't resist the temptation to run a dive plan for this one. Basically, 12 minutes on the bottom equals just under 6 hours in the water decompressing. Another trick we use (on the anchor or shot line) is to put a lift bag on the line as we ascend, with just enough air to keep the anchor in place. What everyone else said, but in your back pocket if you can't track him down, this will likely be covered under your uninsured motorist provision of your policy. Usually this means a lower deductible and no hit on your premiums.
