Re: Warbonnet magic
Love the pics. Warbonnets are cool. Warbonnets with magic tricks are even cooler. #2 and #3 remind me of my two nephews when the door bell rings - they both have to crowd in to see who is at the door. Also, I am an idiot. I failed to read the entire post carefully enough and clicked open the first p...

Re: Winter Blues
I am having the same problem. After 12 years in the South, with about days of winter a year, I am struggling with my second winter back in the PNW. I second Tom's diving and more diving solution. In addition, I am finding that working out regularly is helping quite a bit. It gets me out of the house...

12/7/08. Titlow was an aquarium. Probably 40 feet of vis in beautiful blue water. One of those dives that make you glad just to be alive.

I, for one, welcome our new Cephalopod overlords.

Oh how I wish there was video of Otto juggling hermit crabs. And how I wish that Otto could blind his tormentors. Maybe we will see an Octo light switch on the DIY thread soon. Poor guy.

Re: My First Rescue
Congratulations on Oscar. He is adorable. The face, the ears, the big eyes - what a cutie! My boy Skipper was almost a rescue. His owners were preparing to drop him off at the pound because they were moving to Europe, so he moved onto our couch instead. He is a quasi-rescue dog, but he is the one wh...

Sockmonkey, CaseyB and I did another dive tonight at Cove 2 just to extend the diving with seals high. The mobile silt clouds did not disappoint - the seals were funny, a little scary, and amazing to dive with. Yet another reason that I am captivated by diving the Puget Sound.

Cove 2 pre-turkey dive - Tuesday!
Sockmonkey, Casey and I are gathering at 7:00 tonight at Cove 2 before family obligations interfere with our dive plans. Meet at 7, splashy splash at about 7:30. Who's in?

Dive comfort kit
My save-a-dive kit has a few addition. This is in addition to the usual save-a-dive clutter that populates the vehicle of every diver I know. Call it my comfy dive kit. I can't be the only person who has put one of these together and I am sure that the collective wisdom of this board has more useful...

Redondo today was better than the rest of the area, which is not saying a whole lot. Lots of debris in (and on) the water and low vis above 20 feet. Below that, it opened up fairly well.
Sund Rock/Octopus Hole yesterday was 10-15 feet, with occasional pockets of 3-5 feet.

Re: Cucumber hunting!
I am not a fish person. I love them, but I am still just trying to get the basics down on PNW underwater life. With that disclaimer in place, during three dives today at Sund Rock and Octopus Hole, I saw quite a few cucumbers with long spiky thorns. I also saw two flipped over, showing their "f...

Diving and exercise
So I can't donate blood for another 3 years or so (too much time spent in malarial zones in a prior job). That thread jogged something that I have been pondering in the back of my mind. What are the guidelines for exercise before and after diving. I read an article indicating that exercise 24 hours ...

That has got to be the oddest looking fish I have ever seen. Something about it reminds me of a Pekingese, which has to be the oddest looking dog I have ever seen. Probably the waddling movement. Very odd and very cool. Thanks for posting!

Navigation skills (or lack thereof)
I am a terrible underwater navigator. On land, my directional skills are not good and often involve obscure landmarks from eight years ago (turn left at the funny looking bush down the road from the house with the funny yard sign for Al Gore). I have tried to apply these navigational "skills&qu...

Re: Goodman Handle Width
The handle Eric created is actually pretty professional looking. I am very impressed! The pictures don't do his handiwork justice. Plus, he printed the manual and highlighted the most important parts for me. I love having a dive buddy who recognizes me ADD nature and helps me compensate for it. \:D/...

Re: REDONDO, 11-03
Redondo on Sunday night was ridiculously good. Casey and I did two dives. The first dive was good, the second was amazing. It was the first dive I really wanted a camera. By the time we hit the 60 minute mark, Sailfins, Red Irish Lords, and BIG grunt sculpins were becoming commonplace ("hmmm, a...
