Re: Whats a good fill?

My first rule is always leave your tanks over night, chances are if they are rushed you won't get a good fill and it's always better to check O2 after the mix has had time to settle, second show up at the shop with your own pressure gauge and O2 analyzer. This usually is enough to get the message a...

Re: Hip Surgery - Wish me luck!!!!

John, best wishes for a speedy recovery. You'll rock the rehab, no doubt. I do know one person, quite young, who has had a hip replacement. His recovery has been amazing, and the end result -- he, like most, regrets waiting so long! He's a diver and was back in the water and loving it before long. L...

Welcome. Love your screen name, and the avatar. :) Gunnels are so cute!

I'm so jealous every time I read an intro by a Seattle-area-ite. Oh, to be able to just knock off of work early and hit one of my favorite sites on the Sound... that would be heaven. :)

Re: Gear Stolen from Alki Cove 2

Wow, ask no questions, give thanks to whoever made this happen. And a good reminder!! I had fins and 2 two-lb weights liberated from Sund Rock. I was diving new fins so I'd laid the old fins and some extra weight past the high tide line just in case I'd need them to save me a walk back to the car. T...

We have them at Blue Element, and I'd be happy to ship them if you need. :) I love these fins, and I get comments on them wherever I dive. :)

Re: Looking for good camera for reasonable price

I started shooting underwater for just $75. I had a point and shoot I loved, and I found the manufacturer's underwater case for it. Most manufacturers only produce these for about 6 months as models change so fast, so I couldn't buy one new. I kept scouring Craigslist/eBay and eventually found one o...

Re: Keystone this weekend?

Well Keystone didn't work out... Great advice from Anacordis diving to stay away due to and (yeah, it did NOT look fun when we dropped by). We followed the advice and had a great night dive at Langley. One of our trio had to drop out due to a drysuit failure. But the dive was made before we reached ...

Keystone's a blast! I did my dive #100 there the weekend before we saw you at Sund Rock... I'd show you around but I did a bad thing today and had a 300 lb gravestone fall on my leg... Fortunately nothing was broken but managed to sprain my knee, ankle and foot so I'm probably gonna be dry for a li...

Re: The System of Organizing

I have a 2006 VW New Beetle (diesel) and I consistently take myself and one dive buddy up to the PNW for a day trip or weekend with no troubles. This amazes some people. :) The key for me is flexiblity. My husband wanted a huge tub that he could put everything in... but that only really works in his...

Oh my that is stunning. Wow! It's becoming more and more certain that I'll be getting a twilight and/or night dive in at Redondo on Friday. My buddy and I are very familiar with the site, but would love to dive with someone who is an accomplished lumpy finder at that site, just to improve our chance...

Re: LP95s are too much for my buddy

What an awesome thread. I can chime in that the HP100's are my sweet spot, too. I'd been diving these consistently. Greed for more reserve gas and longer bottom times made me choose LP 108s when I ponied up cash for my very own tanks. Bad move. I turned them around and sold them within a month. Too ...

Any tips on when/where to see these little darlings, if one were to be in the Redondo area late afternoon/early evening on Friday November 11th? I'm going to be at Mike's Beach on the Canal side Saturday and Sunday, but might be able to leave mid day Friday and hit Redondo afternoon/evening. We're c...

I've avoided many of the sites in the narrows that are marked as current sensitive. (Don't. Like. Strong. Current. Visions of getting sucked out to sea.) Until I dove Titlow Saturday with a friend. :) Our plan was to hit it at slack high in the early afternoon. We hit another site in the AM, then br...

If you're on a charter and they DON'T have a clipboard and check-in/out... beware! Dang. So glad these people were picked up! What a tough two hours that must've been, though! While the staff and charter are certainly responsible, it's always a good safety measure to get to know others on the boat. ...

Is Sund Rock markedly worse than Jorstad Creek, Octopus Hole, Triton Cove, Mike's Beach, etc. in the area? And if so, why? Janna, I think last year you posted an definitive missive about O2 levels... I've been searching NW Dive Club and Scubaboard repeatedly and can't find it. If it exists anywhere ...

Re: South Hood Canal O2 levels tanking

So true Bassman; also a great educational opportunity. For instance on Sunday I chatted with a few divers (within our group and others) who were completely ignorant (nothing wrong with that word) about the O2 level issue. They just didn't know anything about it. It was a good opportunity to start a ...
