Re: My New Scuba Shack...
Don't forget to put a vent in the wall directly behind the compressor. The more cross flow ventilation you can get, the longer your compressor will last.

Re: Tank analysis
To be fair, though, an air test result posted on the wall only tells you that they pay attention to their air at least once per quarter or whatever their test frequency is. A filtration system can go bad five minutes after the test is taken... rare, but it can happen. People that have a cool air sys...

PM me with the shop you got the fill from and maybe I can sell them a new filtration system or at least some new filters so it doesn't happen again.

Re: Tank analysis
There is a pretty cool one time test kit that is basically a balloon with a test disk in it. You inflate the balloon off your tank and wait ten minutes and watch the disk for color change. It only indicates CO but that is the only deadly part you can't test with your nose. It runs about $8. The vide...

That is sad news, Dave. Any chance of you taking it back and running it part time like your folks used to do?

Compressor pricing
I just got word that, in the USA, Coltri is going to be having an 11% price increase October 1st. The reasoning given is that there hasn't been a price adjustment since 2009 and there has been an increase in spread between the Dollar and the Euro. I have asked Bauer if there is going to be a new pri...

Re: 9mm composite?
We use Bullseye in Tacoma and they have a very good selection of rentals. But if you bring your own ammo, you have to pay an extra $5 for the range fee. My wife loves her 9mm Springfield XD and it groups very well. However, because of the light weight of the composite, it kicks like my 45.

Re: Life of a Drysuit
I am just guessing that it has something to do with who sent it in. Tacoma Scuba is probably the biggest Bare dealer in the Northwest and, most likely, Bare would do anything to keep those boys happy. It is usually best to deal with your local dealer but just know that each manufacturer has their &q...

Re: Life of a Drysuit
That is really a loaded question since the life expectancy of just about any dive equipment depends on how you treat it. I have a drysuit from the 80s that I outgrew but is still going strong for the person I gave it to. On the other hand, back in 1989, when my wife had her dive shop, she had a cust...

Re: THANKS ... from CompressorStuff!!
We are pretty hard to miss ... at least I am! ;) We were in 926. We usually set up near the back door since we have to wheel in a big compressor and carry in the little one. If you went down the last isle, you would have seen us since the big compressor sitting in the aisle and a small one sitting o...

THANKS ... from CompressorStuff!!

Re: dive expo
I am showing compressors again this year. Every year we have done this and the people that buy our show samples save HUNDREDS of dollars. This year we have a small 4.2 SCFM gas portable as well as a larger 8.9 SCFM gas portable and of course some O2 analyzers for our Nitrox customers. I am not sure ...

Re: Ikelite strobe firing problem
I worked for Ikelite ten years ago and at that time similar things happened when there was a leak or corrosion at the connection. Additionally, it could also happen if there was a short in the cord. Try borrowing a different cord and see if that fixes it.

Re: Ultralight Buoyancy Arms?
That rig reminds me of my old system. I had a housed 35mm (remember film?) with twin monster Ikelite strobes on long enough arms that I could spread them out to about 5' if I wanted. On land, it was a bear to handle unless I folded it up like the picture above; on the boat it would beat my lap up ba...

Prolly nobody bigger than me that dives Puget sound and I also vote for custom. The stretchy stuff is nice, but can bind a bit plus, the more the stretch you have to have, the shorter the life.
Custom undergarment and custom suit ... PERIOD!
