Day Island Wall: It's a GO!
This is it folks: The tides and currents are right to make a dive on Day Island Wall. Slack before ebb will be between 2:53pm and 3:17pm. The ebb tide has a max flow of under 1 knot all the way to 9pm. Conditions for this dive COULD NOT be any better. Using Gibson Point & S Narrows station for t...

DIW
This is my last chance to dive for quite some time - I'm exiled back to Las Vegas for the forseeable future on Monday. I'd love to get in a dive on day Island Wall - I've heard a lot about it. What is the best time to do this dive on Saturday? I know Diver C is up for this, as is my wife, so we'll s...

You could have been bent on that dive (though apparently you were not). After about 5 minutes of breathing gas under pressure, you will have nitrogen in solution in your cells that will come out as bubbles when you return to normal surface pressure. The 'book' says you won't have enough to cause you...

You need far more weight in a wetsuit than you do in a drysuit. Reason: Neoprene compresses with depth. At the surface, it is quite bouyant. In order to make a controlled descent and hold a safety stop in the 20-5 fsw range, you need to carry a lot of weight to offset the boyancy of the suit. At dep...

Re: Transpac system: 1) The quick-release buckles are a point of potential failure. With a properly fitted web harness you should be able to chicken-wing your self out of the rig without needing releases. On the other hand, if you were to crack one (coming up the ladder on a boat, or bashed into roc...

Dove I-90 Wreck
November of 1991, a fierce storm over Seattle combined with a maintenance problem on the bridge deck of the old I-90 bridge segment from Seattle to Mercer Island to flood the flotation pontoons of the bridge and send it unexpectedly to the bottom. Much of the bridge was salvaged, or dragged to deep ...
