Lowell (HuskyChemist) seems to be having a great time in Lembeh Straits He ended up doing 35 or so dives in about 10 days, all from a charter boat that he had to himself.

Cats? They seem to work, but then you have to deal with the cats doing their thing in the garden.

Re: Three Critters from Lembeh
Holy Cow! I just finally actually clicked on the images and looked at them in their bigger fuller glory and they are even better than the smaller versions. You must be all a twitter with all those critter to photo and ID. Sounds like you are having a great time, but, the big question is, how is the ...

So, if you go by the rule of thumb that you should only scuba dive to twice the depth to which you can free dive, I guess this guy would be going down to 218 m. Dang! That is serious.
I was impressed with the fin, bet he can't frog kick in that thing.

Re: A crabby ID question from California
Thanks. Looks like I've got a pretty good consensus confirming my first thoughts. I'll label the first one Maroon hermit (Pagurus hemphilli) and the second Sharp-nosed Crab (Scyra acutifrons). Thanks! If Greg says that is what they are, that is what they are. If you didn't recognize the name, Greg ...

Not only did I get to go out with this group as a student, I ended up using them for many years with my own students when I was teaching at the Elementary school.
Good stuff.

Re: Redondo this saturday, 6/6 - all are welcome
I have a couple of tide charts but there is no listing for Redondo, kind of like I use Everett to check Mukilteo and Admiralty head for Keystone. Sheahan and I were trying for 7:30 - 8:00 for #1. There is a tidal correction station for Des Moines. You can check out the Tide Planning Page for Redond...

Have you ever dove them? i've only been there once, over a year ago. captjack brought his boat down to the dond for a club dive and shuttled me and...

Re: WTB: Weight Belt and Weights
I have heard that you can buy reclaimed shot from shooting ranges for pretty cheap. XS Scuba makes some pretty nice pouches that you can get to put the shot into. There are plenty of people who have made their own pouches. A 6 pouch weight belt can be very reasonable. The lead is what is going to co...

Re: BC ferries, transporting scuba cylinders
This may be old info so take it with a grain of salt. I was told by Canadian friends not to have NITROX stickers on the cylinders. It seems that people were told by the ferry inspector that nitrox is too dangerous to be on the ship! Probably some confusion over dragster fuel or something. A bottle ...
