Re: Birthday celebration at Mukilteo
Happy Birthday Curt. Is there room on your Mukilteo dance card for a dive with me sometime? Ron: An enthusiastic yes. Mukilteo, or Edmonds, Keystone, Cove2, Hood Canal, or whatever. I haven't dived Salt Creek seemingly forever and have never dived Port Townsend. The possibilities are endless. Pleas...

Re: A New Member of the Family
We, too, are possessed by a dog. Chelsea follows my every move around the house. When I put on my running shoes, we get happy jumps. If I pull out my diving gear, her body language sags and I am given a look of betrayal. "Dog is love."

Birthday celebration at Mukilteo
While still in bed, my wife said "Happy Birthday". I stumbled out to see the fog lifting off Puget Sound bringing to mind the vapors off the moors from a Shakespeare play. I did what any normal old guy would do, I scraped the ice off my windshield and went diving. By the time I drove aroun...

Jan: Amazing. My first cruise in the Navy was on a WWII heavy cruiser similar to the Prinz Eugene. Unlike you, I never carried a camera, nor sketchbook, nor kept a journal. I really appreciate your remembrances.

Help in shrimp ID
My godson's son is in the school of fisheries at UW and needed some keys to ID inverts. I gave him mine figuring I could rely on my memory. My memory failed me. Is this a coonstripe shrimp?

Aaron: Good write-up. I hope you never lose your sense of wonder. Of course you know that you don't have to be deep or novel to have a great experience. Appreciating the beauty in the commonplace, gulls, seastars, anemones are examples of things that enrich our lives without our really being aware. ...

Re: Maui in April
I'm no expert, but I have traveled to Maui twice and really enjoyed myself both times. There is a dive shop every 15ft. I have dived with four of them and had a good experience each time. B&B Diving in Kihei took us out to the Helldiver, a WWII plane wreck which we really enjoyed. All of the cha...

Never-the-less, some friends will be joining me next week for my 67th birthday dive. You are in for a treat. On a routine dive yesterday we saw three o...

Bob: A good reminder. I live in a waterfront home and not much bothers me. Beach walkers, kayakers, kite surfers, duck hunters, etc., come with the territory. Sometimes it is impossible to avoid Mr. Angry. One example is a Hat Island resident who rowed out to my sailboat anchored out over the artifi...

Mukilteo T-Dock. 26 January. 10-15 foot vis at depth. Less near the surface. Entered at high tide (+12.5 ft). Met up with morningdiverbob. GPO under the boat, 2 wolf eels on the geodome, greenling, lingcod, and normal stuff.

Frankly, I like the idea of... Buying the marina and put in an elevator the the water. Re-stare the boat rental and put in a dive shop. Okay, where's my rich uncle, Hey Obama, since you are blowing all that money why not spend it on something someone will actually use? Years ago a group of us paid ...

Jan: Thank you. Your history of the Saratoga is especially appropriate as today (January 18th) is considered by many the birthday of naval aviation. Eugene Ely landed his Curtiss biplane on the USS Pennsylvania on January 18, 1911 for the first shipboard landing.

Re: The piling al Mukilteo
I just got out of the water with Morningdiverbob. The piling has toppled over and rests atop the satellite dish. Lots of big rockfish though. Also lings, GPO under the boat, and two wolf eels in shallower water. Lousy vis, great dive.
