Re: Redondo looks like a dumping ground

I wish the state, WSA or someone would put an artificial rock reef at Redondo.

Raise the parking fees or ask divers to donate towards the cost if the area doesn't think increase diver traffic in the area isn't worth the monetary investment. --- And the rock reef would last pretty much forever.

June 5th and 6th - San Juan Island

I am staying with a group for a couple boat dives on San Juan Island June 5th and 6th. Are there any sites someone can suggest for a Friday night (June 4th) or Saturday night (June 5th) on the island for a shore dive? Some protected cove where we can just get a night dive in without too much hassle ...

Re: New PDX member

I always suggest Seven Seas Scuba when people ask about local shops in the PDX/Vancouver area. Super busy -- lots of friendly active divers and a very busy class calendar. No shop should give you a hard time if you show up with your own existing gear and want to talk classes and use them as your new...

Re: Lake Dives around Portland/Vancouver

Gooch did some nice line maintenance on out dive at Merwin today. Cleaned off the crud as far out as we made it -- I would sure like to add a section to the line at the start of the dive. Featureless mud and sticks/logs makes it hard to determine how close/far we are from the entry spot. There are s...

Re: the LONG step up at Les Davis

Yay redondo improvements :) I as just looking at that last step today wondering why it couldn't have been one more concrete step. A well constructed rock step would be handy also -- and if some of the rocks on the walk out got move thats a bonus also. I swear they move and attack people. Any picture...

Re: Looking for Oregon Dive Buddies

Hey Guys -- I am up in Portland and we perhaps you can catch one of our group dives -- where a big bunch of us go up north. Car pooling and many buddies to dive with. The Newport Fingers is a cool dive but find someone who can review the tides the day and time you want to go. It can be a wicked plac...

Re: Quitting smoking

Congrats on the quiting! Every smoker who tried to quit knows but non-smokers won't believe how strong the addiction is. I quit 9 years ago after smoking for a solid 15 or so years and it was the hardest thing I ever did in my life so far. I won't ever smoke again because I fear having to quit again...

Re: Norander's Reef and Harper's Ferry

Gooch, As part of the vancouver crew I will be suggesting we head to Port Townsend sometime this spring. Whats another hour of driving? -- I don't think its that far past Point Whitney is it? Maybe another 40-50 miles? The Toyota Pickup gets decent gas mileage and I volunteer to drive it can fit 4 p...

It will be a valuable story for you to talk about and teaching the open water classes. Excellent reminder for us all about looking at the gauge - especially those of us ( me ) who might have progressed from complete beginner to now more experienced and don't check the gauges like a crazy person ever...

Re: Small landslide at Sund Rock

Interesting when I was there a few weeks ago a couple rocks fell down the hillside and I thought that seems like it could all come crashing down someday.

Luckily the owners should have plenty of money from the dive fees to get it clean up and fixed up quickly :)

Re: Yellow House Dives 10-16/18

That makes sense now Janna,
On one of our dives at Yellow house there was a big Octo sitting on top of a boat.
It really looked like it was huffing and puffing pretty hard for not moving around :(

Re: Cuff Dump

I have forgotten about the cuff valve idea now.
A better idea was just getting some more dives and learning how to dive the suit.

While not perfect I am now comfortable.
No problems or worries about the suit the last 5 dives so things are coming along :)

Any freelance PHP programmers around here?

Is there anyone in our dive community thats a freelance PHP programmer and looking for a little side job? What I have is an ecommerce system using the X-cart system. X-cart built a connection piece for a credit card system called ATOS/SIPS (this is some crazy French bank/credit card system -- Main o...

Cuff Dump

What is the opinion of a drysuit cuff dump valve? I am only 10 dives into my drysuit diving so perhaps its all practice but I seem to not be able to get out enough air from the suit via the shoulder dump when I am finished with a dive at about 10 feet under. I suppose another couple pounds of lead i...

Re: Newport or Florence or ???

Ordiver if you ever have a trip planned for Tillamook I would like to go on one. I am interested in diving there but really would like to have a guide on exactly where to get into the water and when to get into the water. As I noticed from the Newport dive last month with 7Cs the Oregon Coast has so...

Air Integrated inflator

Would using an air integrated inflator as my safety backup octo result in instant death :) (Joke from Scubaboard) I am considering switching from a standard 2nd regulator to an air intergrated to streamline my kit. My diving only will consist of easy recreational shore and boat diving at depths less...
