Re: Palau & Peleliu Feb 2018

A lot of them were deeper, yes. Deepest dive was 111 feet. Shallowest was the mandarinfish which was an hour and a half at about 3 feet. Most of the wall dives you could go as deep as you want/nitrox mix would allow, and the top of the wall was in the 40ft range. Virgin Hole and Blue holes required ...

Re: Palau & Peleliu Feb 2018

Thanks guys. JT, I'd highly suggest going. This was my 2nd favorite trip now. If I didn't have so many other places on my list, I'd probably plan to go back. It's certainly nice diving in a 3mm shorty instead of a drysuit, of course. Although I gotta say my least favorite sites there were some of th...

Palau & Peleliu Feb 2018

Continuing on with the theme of everyone else going on vacation at the same time, I went to Palau and Peleliu with my wife and our other normal dive buddy. The trip was run by Ocean Enterprises out of San Diego, who we have done 2 other dive trips with and got certified with. They always put on a go...

I'm out of the water till March as well. But if anyone is interested in going to the south towards the cabin cruiser, there's a wolf eel in the corrugated pipe on the way. Figured I'd pass it on.

Re: 2/1 ThThTh 6:30pm @ Redondo

In for this one. Want to see some lumpies and some stubbies. Could potentially do a 5pm early-dive as well. I might be able to join for an early dive. When is the meet time? I can get there around 4 or 4:30 most likely. So in the water around 5 should give us enough time to do a dive, and get out t...

Re: Sopras drysuits?

If you can wait for it to be made, there's always Seaskin drysuits. For a basic no-frills suit it's about $730 delivered, custom fit to you. I have one. With all the options I selected it was about $930 delivered (about half was a dry glove system). We have another one on order for my wife right now...

Baby Octos at 3 Tree

In case anyone is looking for baby octopus, we saw 2 of them at 3 tree last night. It was about 7:30pm and we were in the ~30ft range at low tide. They were maybe 1 1/2-2" in diameter? https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4731/39348604302_5c69e8218b_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4737/39348603282...

Re: Dry Suit Question

It would be easier to swap to a backplate and immediately be able to drop 6-10 lbs. I dropped 12 lbs going from my standard jacket style BCD, the Ranger will probably drop a bit less. Granted, I have an oddly heavy tank, but I dive in 16 lbs in my drysuit. Could probably drop a few pounds from that ...

Re: ThThTh -- Feeding lumpies!

Stephen, where was that baby wolf eel hanging out at? He lives in the engine block just below Bob's reef. He's kinda shy. Not super familiar with the dond. Where is it in relation to this map? Doesn't have the reef or engine block on it. http://seattledivetours.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Redond...

Re: Always Dive with a Buddy?

Nothing wrong with solo diving if you are geared up for it and are proficient in your diving abilities. Not sure how many dives you have, so take that into consideration. Is it riskier? A bit, as there's always the unexpected medical issue that could happen. I find it way more relaxing and more enjo...

Re: Places to eat after diving?

Cove 2/Junkyard I typically go to Marination. After diving Three Tree we typically go to The Point. For Rockaway/Norrander's Reef on Bainbridge we will typically hit up Doc's Marina Grill after if we are getting food. Mukilteo is the Diamond Knot. Edmonds is Rory's.

The first 20 feet or so was about 1-2 feet. Below that maybe 10-15? Wicked current in the shallower sections though.
