Re: Redondo today
Dove there this morning. No significant changes to anything. Saw a few pieces of siding from the MaST but nothing like a few years ago. I did not go to the eel grass, so I cannot report on that.

No, I've just been hearing that it's been difficult to dive there lately with all the fishermen.YellowEye wrote:Were you there?

OH no...this is not good. I hope it was just an isolated event in an isolated location and doesn't spread. :(

FYI--I know of at least 2 (possibly 3, according to an email I received this morning) other clubs/shops that are planning dives at Sund Rock on 9/6. It's going to be crazy crowded!

I don't personally have it, but I can hook you up with who does. Be prepared to describe video content, model, etc.

Re: Sea star die-off
I know some folks have been excited and hopeful to see the babies popping up here and there, but the baby sunflower stars at Redondo are dying too. :( Saw one melting down by the carousel boat yesterday, and one that had blown all of its arms up by the observation tower. No other sunflower stars (de...

Saw two today at 3-Tree. Saw one last week at Sund Rock and another couple of them last week at Point Whitney.

:( I can't imagine how hard it is to have to make that decision. But, good for you that you are wise and strong enough to do so with such grace.

Urine etiquette--Geez!
To the diver at Redondo this morning who emptied their pee valve and then flushed it all out...... right next to my car door ......that was poor form, bad manners, terrible etiquette, and most of all, disgusting. There was a restroom less than 50 yards away. That is where pee goes and where you can ...

Re: Dry Glove Liners
For me, dry gloves are a necessity, not a luxury. I have very very very bad hands (Raynaud Disease). I have bought and tried many liners over the years. For me, these have ended up being the best, by far. Outdoor Research PL 400 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003P8QLDY/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?...

Great photos, Dan! Thanks for the sea star update--very sad. :( I wonder if we will see a comeback of sea stars in Puget Sound in our diving lifetime....makes you wonder, huh?

TTN today--straight out from the entrance to the tire reefs over to the cabin cruiser. I did not see one sunflower star--alive, sick, dead, or recognizable goo pile. NONE. ZERO. ZIP. NADA.

Re: Sea star die-off
Dove Redondo first time today in about a month. The change was dramatically devastating. Surprisingly, there are still purple ochre stars on the pilings. But, the sunflower population is almost gone. I saw 1-2 healthy ones left. The other 10 or so that I saw are in the early stages. Lots of piles of...
