Re: Flag Pole and Elephant Ear
Not sure, highest ones, maybe 85'. Didn't take any pictures of chunks... maybe next time I'm there. The guy I was diving with went to 185 and said they looked fine down that deep, just silt.

Re: Flag Pole and Elephant Ear
I'm sure some of it is from silt, but there are some with big chunks knocked off, mostly in the shallow waters. Maybe eels during mating? the deeper areas that look like it's dying could be from silt.

Re: Flag Pole and Elephant Ear
I have been diving there for years and this is about the worse I have seen it. Lots of it is dying and broken off.

Flag Pole and Elephant Ear
Went to Flag Pole and Elephant Ear today and as usual, wolf eels everywhere. A few Octopus, but not as many as usual. Lot of life starting to bloom and the colors are coming back. Baby jellies everywhere including lions mane, about the size of a dime and foot long tentacles. Vis wasn't too bad, 25-3...

Re: Another good dive
I originally thought that too, but several other people in town said that they thought it was a six gill, something to do with the tail. hard to tell, he was fast and it was dark .Ihave seen lots of dog fish they have never been shy, have had to smack in nose with light. the last six gill was 8' and ...

Re: Another good dive
I believe it was a six gill about 4 1/2' long. Dog fish usually aren't flighty in the water.

Another good dive
Water and wind has finally calmed down after a bad week. Water vis still merky until after 60' then clears, but dark. But I did find this little guy on the deep side of Pulali point at about 145'. He didn't seem to like my light but I did manage to get one so so picture of him, he was just too far a...

Re: Hello from Kelso
Welcome to the group, if you ever want to do a week day dive along the hood canal, let me know I'm usually available for AM dives. I have a 13' inflatable that I take out of Quilcene or Triton... great for 2 divers and 2 tanks each.

Re: Best dive destination/resort/value help!
You could try Anthony's key in Roatan. One of the best dive operations I've seen. You can get your own hut out on the key over looking the water. Boats are big and not that crowded. You can dive with the dive master or venture off by yourself. All inclusive. Little more money than Cozumel, but it ni...

Hood Canal this Tuesday or Thrusday
Anyone interested in diving Tuesday morning to Pinnacle or Thursday morning Pulali point. I have these 2 days with no dive buddy yet. 8:00 at Quilcene dock to beat the weather. Pinnacle 110'+ Pulali 150' to see if we can get a shot of a six gill. Tides not great, but should be ok in these spots. Dale

Re: hood canal dive week days
I got certified in OR back in '96 but now live and dive in California. Will be up in Portland 18JUN-06JULY. Would like to dive up in Hood Canal sometime. Can do night dives too. I do not have a drysuit, but I do have 8mm wetsuit and generally dive in 52-54F water down here with no issues. Nitrox, P...
