Re: New Portlander Here
there is a very large Oregon contingent here on nwdc. We even have our own forum at http://www.nwdiveclub.com/viewforum.php?f=20. Check it out. There are many of us that do a weekly or bi-weekly trek up to the Sound for a couple of dives. The guys I dive with usually do weekday dives but there are m...

Will be doing 3 dives there tomorrow so will keep an eye out. Where were you when you lost it?

Re: Is Les Davis still closed?
Thanks for the info. So, is it supposed to rain very much tomorrow? We were thinking of diving on Tuesday. I'm down in Portland so don't know what the weather is doing up by Tacoma. The weather updates I see are often very misleading.

So does anyone know the status of Les D these days? Or should we always avoid it within 48 of rain?

Chad, Welcome to the board. And to diving in the PNW. You sent me a message about Vegan Divers a few days ago. Glad to see you here. As Matt said, it's true that Steve and John & I do a lot of mid-week diving, usually on Wednesdays. We are all very experienced divers and I see from your profile ...

Re: Canon G16
Dusty, I pretty much came up with the same conclusions you did. For the price, it seemed worth it to go with the G16 to get the one which would be better in low light conditions. And having Wifi seems pretty cool too. I found very little variation in prices but only looked at a few sites. The Canon ...

Debating whether to get the Canon G15 or G16. Anyone have any experience/comments about either?

Re: Bonaire travel/hotel recommendations
I'm partial to Den Laman. Beautiful condos, 24/7 diving, house reef, dive shop onsite with great staff, free nitrox, truck included, if you opt for boat dives (extra $), the boats are small so fewer divers in the water with you, restaurant onsite (you can dive a meal plan with them but this is also ...

Re: Camera, float or sink?
I definitely think slightly negative is better. I've dropped mine a few times but have been quickly been able to find it. On the other hand, when it was unintentionally positive, it made it's way to the surface on a dive in Bonaire, traveled over to Klein Bonaire, buried itself in sand, was found by...

Bob, you are the best! You aborted your dive rather than disturb the little one and reported to someone who could help. Job, extremely well done!

Re: Total computer meltdown...
I have 3 Suunto's and they have all been great. My Cobra probably has close to 1000 dives on it (it has been my pool computer for several years since I got a wrist Vyper 2 and has done A LOT of pool diving) and still works like a champ. I've never had an issue with battery replacement and have had i...

Wanted: Diffuser for Canon G12
I broke my diffuser for my Canon G12 housing when boarding the Ocean Quest a few weeks ago and would like to replace it without having to spend the $$ Canon wants for the part and the shipping.
Anyone have one they'd let go for a reasonable price?

Sund Rock 9/11 AM. North Wall very murky from 20-45fsw. 10-15 below that. PM South Wall Murky down to about 20fsw. 10-15 below that. Sounds like we should have gone to Three Tree. Although we did see 9 Wolfies on the first dive and 5 or 6 on the second.

There is a dive shop in Astoria out on the pier heading out Hwy 30 on the east side of town. They may be able to take you on a dive or two if conditions cooperate.

Re: Just joined!
Welcome to the board. There are a lot of us Oregon divers that frequent this board and dive fairly regularly. Not much locally unless you enjoy looking at silt in a local lake. But many of us make weekly or at least bi-monthly treks up to Puget Sound. I'm an instructor at Seven Seas Scuba in Vancouv...

Re: Manacled Sculpin at Seiku Jetty
Dan, Looking through my photos, I found Manacled Sculpin at Cove 2 in August of 2010 on 2 different occasions and in November of 2011. I don't dive Cove 2 that often so don't know if this is usual. I was just there last week and didn't see any although I did look.

At certain times of the year, you can find Manacled Sculpin at Cove 2, the only place other than Seiku that I've ever seen one.

Re: You kids and your "all black" SCUBA gear...
This is great! A few years ago when the orcas were in Hood Canal and decimating the seal population a friend of mine was worried that an orca might attack me. I told her they were only interested in the seals and I didn't look like a seal. She thought for a moment then said, "I've seen you in a...
