Re: Shooters

Does anyone know of a good place to go shooting on the east side? I mean east side as in "a reasonable drive from Woodinville," not the eastern side of the state. I have a couple of spots on a map that I need to recon, but if anyone can point me to a good spot that you can vouch for I'd re...

Re: HID flickers but won't turn on

Sorry I threadjacked BTW! Archisgore, I am sure that once your HID is repaired it will give you a lot of trouble-free service. Assuming your battery is good, you might want to start by simply buying a bulb. If the new bulb works, great. You probably just killed the old one. You'd be back in the wate...

Re: HID flickers but won't turn on

Dusty, you already have 99% of what you need to answer questions from someone like me in place. You have a Facebook page and a Smugmug page. If you could at least put stuff like price and run time in those places it would sure help people like me learn about your products. Typing that information in...

Re: HID flickers but won't turn on

I wasn't asked, but speaking for myself not having a web page that details the products and their price is an immediate turn-off. The Facebook page doesn't list that data front and center either. There are some pictures buried on the Smugmug page, but it doesn't have any obvious product info either-...

I love the idea of a dive kayak, but I fear the the reality of the extra set-up time.

Re: HID flickers but won't turn on

I think that you are not supposed to turn on an HID for just a few seconds like that. If you need to check it, turn it on and let it run for a few minutes. Once you turn it off, don't turn it back on for a while. How long is "a while?" Opinions vary. I like to give it at least ~15 minutes ...

Re: Great camera deal, Canon S100 $229 @ Amazon

So I bit on the S100 and (re)started my research on housings. I had my eye on it for a while, but the sale pushed me over the edge. Backscatter has the FIX aluminum housing for $599. I called Optical Ocean and asked if they could match it, and ended up with a combo if the FIX housing and wide-angle ...

Re: Club dive! Club dive! Club dive! Saturday June 30th!

Sadly Jen and I could not go. I took our cylinders in for fills on Friday, but they needed a vis, and BB doesn't have anyone who can do that working weekends. :( I really, really miss NWSD and even UWS Kirkland. I've never had a hard time getting a vis if I could leave cylinders overnight. It seemed...

The van has a Lyntrux liner inside, up to the roofline. We drive and dive with protection.

Re: Breaking in the dive van

An ambulance would be awesome for sure. They actually made them from this sort of Econoline van. There is a factory ambulance option package including dual alternators. But this Beast is big enough that I think driving an even bigger box would be nerve-wracking.

Breaking in the dive van

Finally, the dive van got to go diving! Well, WE went diving. The van stayed in the parking lot. It was awesome! An enclosed place to change, an elevated and clean place to sit and assemble gear, surfaces I didn't care about scratching or getting wet... Simple stuff, but it really made things more e...

Servicing SI-Tech dump valves?

Jen's dump valve leaked today at Redondo. She got soaked. As she described it, it just gushed at about 40 ft, and thereafter would not vent without leaking badly. The valve is on her (bought used) Fusion and I don't know how many total dives it has had. All I can say is it doesn't look old, which do...
