Re: ThThTh 12/10/2015

Desperately in need of a dive after my Hornby trip was squashed by windstorms. TTN at 6:30? I can be there. I'm sure I'll invariably show up at 6:45 (reverse jinx), but I'll give it a shot.

Re: Dive over the holiday weekend?

If viz is still bad, I'd prefer to default to the easy terrain of Redondo.

Re: Dive over the holiday weekend?

I don't know how visibility will be. I'm thinking Saturday will work best. I could be persuaded to do Redondo or Edmonds.

Dive over the holiday weekend?

Anybody going to be around the weekend after Thanksgiving for a dive? I can do Friday night through Sunday. I got a new drysuit undergarment and want to work out buoyancy issues before I go on a trip to Hornby the following weekend.

Re: Thursday Crew Dive 11/12/2015

Fun night indeed. I believe it was my 600th dive. I have some body shots of the sculpin in my gallery: https://derekcs.smugmug.com/Underwater/Seattle-Diving/Redondo-Beach-Park-2015-11-13. Consulting my books, I think it was a juvenile cabezon. The colors are from experimenting with gels over the str...

I'll bring extra gloves but I think your hands are a size up from mine.

I'll be there this week. And I'll try to leave the house by 5:30 so I actually get there on time. Yeesh.

Parasites

I took a closeup picture of a flounder's eye on a night dive at Redondo and noticed all these marks. They look like parasitic isopods or copepods, but they seem like cartoon drawings. Anyone know what these critters are exactly?

Re: ThThTh 10/08 Trip Report!

And I think the "tiny GPO" is another red octo. The GPO eyes look different. Bigger. Here's a younger, smaller GPO in a PVC pipe at Redondo a couple years ago: https://derekcs.smugmug.com/Underwater/Seattle-Diving/Redondo-Beach-Park-2013-11-10/i-NhhPNNg I ran into exactly the same situatio...

Re: Underwater photo books

Charles Seaborn's Underwater Photography, which is an instructional book from the film days, has a lot of good Puget Sound photos. It's actually what convinced me to learn scuba diving here. I'll have to pick up Salas' new book. Cold waters is slim pickings. Planet Ocean has a few good cold water ph...
