Mid-day tides are looking good, and the water's been clearer lately.
My usual buddy is out of action for a few weeks. If you're diving locally, can I tag along?

Yeah I expect as much. Hmmm.Boarderguy wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 10:47 am Depending on what transpired the vessel or vehicle may belong to the insurance company that paid out a claim on it. All kinds of weird little loop holes to keep you from keeping what was retrieved.

Marine Salvage Rights in Puget Sound
Let's say, hypothetically, that a diver finds a sunken boat (or vehicle, or whatever) somewhere in Puget Sound. Maybe the original owner of said boat wants to recover it. Or maybe not. Either way, the diver gets there first, and raises/salvages the boat. What rights does the salvager have? Does the ...

Re: Shore Diving sites on Orcas Island or Shaw Island
One good Shaw dive is Broken Point. I've been curious to know if it is doable with scooters, you may want to check that out! Broken Point looks like a great area. If we could get to a nearby beach I think scootering would be very doable, but the nearest beach is the small isthmus leading out to Bro...

Shore Diving sites on Orcas Island or Shaw Island
¡Hola amigos!
I will be on Shaw Island for a few days next month and would like to get a few dives in. Shore access is ... limited... Same goes for nearby Orcas Island.
Do you know of any good dive sites on either island that we might access? We have scooters, if it helps.

Re: Planyourdive Replacement for current predictions
They all seem to be awkward. Or non-functional. There's definitely a need for an elegant tide/current predictor web site, if there was a way to fund it without too much advertising baggage.
I use tide.arthroinfo.org, which is quirky and tedious but seems to be comprehensive.

A Sign of the [Old] Times
And now for something a little different... We did a cleanup dive near Point Hudson today and pulled up an old gasoline sign. It was newly exposed by winter storms, I think, because we'd never seen it before. It took a lot of digging and a 50# lift bag to get it to shore. This is a keeper! Haven't q...

Using a shop compressor for inflation testing
Some of you have probably known this since Before Scuba ... but it's new to me! I wanted to leak-test my drysuit and was looking for a way to inflate it that wouldn't drain a scuba tank. If you have a shop compressor with a blow-gun nozzle that has a removable tip, an LP BCD inflator hose fits perfe...

Biked across on the ferry today with snorkeling gear and took a look. They're still there! Very fun. Not as many as in your video, but still a great afternoon splashing around in the lake.

Re: jelly fish Movie
The moon jellies are at Driftwood pond I don't know if they're still there and I don't know how or why this pond supports life because it's brackish water... I saw post and reached out to Jan and he said the pond is full of moon jellies which I thought was completely weird ? And not possible... But...

Thanks for all the replies.
Maybe CaptnJack or others have already done this, but the only thing I can think of is to (maybe) identify the background in the photo of the sinking -- presumably Whidbey island in the distance.

The North Pacific is a sidewheeler wreck, supposedly somewhere off of Marrowstone Point.
Does any know the location? My searches turned up nothing.

I'm interested to hear what effects people see around Puget Sound.

We scuttled a dive in Port Townsend at 11am this morning, around the same time as the arrival. Bummer, that.

Cool. Would any particular days work for you?
I figure on one two-dive day, camping the night before.
