Re: Thanks for good weather

One of the interesting tidbits was the temperature. Was about the same both places but freezing precip at home. So was able to do more walking in Seattle.

Thanks for good weather

Back home after a few days playing in Seattle. Flew down to give my wife a chance to do some things she hasn't been able to do over the past couple years. A byproduct was my hiking up and down the hills of downtown Seattle. I had forgotten how big the hill is from the market to I5. Good exercise. Th...

Re: I got bent (NHZ)

After my personal insurance covered everything they were going to I sent a copy of all my EOB's and hospital bills to DAN and they sent me back a check for $1350. I was still out of pocket about $400 but I really am thankful for having DAN available for telephone medical consults and the insurance ...

Re: Not A Never Ending Saga I Hope

I say it over and over becauuse it is so important. Your support is really appreciated. As pointed out by spatman and my exchanges we have different symptoms and will probably have different things we have to live with when healing has gone as far as it can. But, we all have similar emotional challe...

Re: Not A Never Ending Saga I Hope

Sounds like scuba could be on the near horizon; I was able to get back to it after my surgery by having my buddies carry my gear to the water and putting it on there, where there was basically no weight on my spine. You might think about trying that... Right now my problem isn't with the spine. It ...

Not A Never Ending Saga I Hope

Seems like this has been going on forever. In one perspective it nearly has. Trauma in May 2011. Little surgery that helped some in July 2011. Definitive major surgery in April 2012. Released from initial post-op restrictions in July 2012. Repeatedly given counseling that I had major surgery to addr...

Re: BLACKFISH

The discussion of what should and should not be kept in captivity to teach people about a world they otherwise would never encounter is a long standing one. Even the idea of keeping animals in captivity for educational purposes is controversial. I have never liked the SeaWorld model, or those patter...

Re: BLACKFISH

This is one more chapter in the zoo discussion. Good arguments on both sides, especially for those who do not have ready access to the ocean or wilderness. I was left with contempt for the former employees who, despite their pleas of ignorance, had to know what was going on but did nothing about it....

Re: Rinsing gear.

Q: Why not rip out that tank hot water heater and put in tankless? Advertising says that is cheaper and safer than old fashioned tank heaters. I have always rinsed my kit twice. Once when I finish at my destination and then, again, when I get home. Almost all my gear looks almost like new. But, afte...

In a couple other venues involving a fairly good sized number of people according to what they said.there was not one person who would attempt to help a person in ...

True words Curt. When the marriage ceremony made us one we took that seriously. Now breaking up the partnership would be like amputation.

Re: Got wet today

Rehab is as much mental as physical. Y'all really help with that. I have discovered that if a person opens up and allows it there is a lot of support. Also, it is surprising who is watching and getting encouragement from rehab efforts. I have relearned we all are in this together. On with the work!

On Oahu testing to see where I am 17 months after definitive surgery. Anyone interested can look over prior posts for the details. But, According to the docs this was major trauma and surgery. No problem riding a bike 20 or 30 miles at a time without stopping. But I have significant weakness in my f...

Re: 6 Days Until I Take the BIG PLUNGE....

My wife and I are on Oahu so I can test my progress and to give us a break from a very stressful time. We were talking about this very thing. how we've been married 51 years when so many have fallen by the wayside.. Her answer was that we are a partnership. We are One. Everything we do is for the be...

Photon Torpedo LED Upgrade

I'm thinking of dropping the LED Upgrade unit into my Photon Torpedo. Anybody with experience? (hesitate to ask) Opinions?

According to the Gulftex web site the module is about $65.

Camera Any Good?

I'm headed back to Oahu in a couple weeks. When I get there I will definitely swim and snorkel. Probably will scuba also. But, in the gym I tumbled over the edge of my rehab envelope so the scuba on this trip is not certain. In any case I'd like to take some images on the beach and underwater( of wh...

Re: "It's a desert down there"

I'm still learning to slow down and smell the roses. Memories: Bahamas liveaboard. Everyone else on board came as one of a couple groups. I'm at least 30 years older than the rest of the divers. Pool's open. Splash and everyone but me races off into the ?????. I swim about 50 yards from the boat. T...
