Friday Harbor air fills?
I understand the building housing the fill station burned down a couple of years ago- does anyone know if there's air fills available on the island again?

Re: Moisture in housing tips
I put my camera in the housing in my garage, where I can hit it with some air out of a tank just before I close it up. Our tanks are a great source of super dry air, just make sure the reg is completely dry before hitting the purge button

Re: Diving out of Jeep Wrangler
Been diving out of 4-door Wranglers since OW- first an 08, now a 14. The 14 has a doo-hickey to keep the rear door open, which is nice. I don't know of anything special to add other than the usual things common to any SUV- good floor liners all around, a nice sized tote for wet stuff, etc. Some of o...

Re: Dive outfits and Charters on OR Coast? Want to dive OR Coast Close to PDX!
The Eugene Dive Club does have a charter scheduled around Labor Day out of Garibaldi, and I believe a couple of spots recently became available. PM me more information (I'm on the EDC board- you can sign up here to get on our e-mail list: http://www.eugenediveclub.com/) . Spear fishing is allowed on...

Nice I've actually dove a couple of times with an old rental tux I bought off E-bay under my drysuit. Once was for a midnight dive on New Years- oddly enough, they don't work so well as an undergarment...

Re: STA and LP95
Yeah, I didn't explain that too well, did I? I've got the Aqualung Griplock cam bands, and on one side the pouch would have to ride right where the end of the strap lays down on the velcro. Having things touch fasteners has always kind of bugged me (I work in occupational safety, so I'm probably mor...

Re: STA and LP95
Thanks for the suggestions. I tried XS weight pockets on the cam bands, but with the diameter of 95 the cam bands are too short. Anyone use an STA with a 95?

STA and LP95
As I get older, I find that I don't have much of a rear end to keep a weight belt in place. I'd like to ditch the belt entirely, but shoving all the lead into my Hollis weight system is a bit much. I could go with an STA and a channel weight, but I dive LP95s and I always assumed that moving the tan...

Re: Whidbey Island Critters
What Lynne said :) Our dive club was on Whidbey this weekend, and every time I dove I thought about the stuff I learned from this thread. Last night we did a night dive at the tire reef- saw lots of neat critters, including a silver spotted sculpin- the first thing that came to mind was that I wishe...

Olympus E-PL2, lens, and PT-EP03 housing
I just upgraded cameras, so my baby has got to go. It an Olympus E-PL2 camera (red), 14-42 kit lens, and the PT-EP03 under water housing. This combination takes great photos, and is perfect for scuba divers wanting to get into underwater photography without spending thousands to house a bigger DSLR....

Re: Sea star die-off
Saw 2 wasting stars in Winchester Bay, Oregon yesterday. Viz averaged a little more than 2', so it wasn't the best statistical sample. I did see healthy several 1-inch stars, however. A few weeks ago I dove the same site (with much better viz) and noticed several healthy adults and no wasting stars.

Re: Eugene Dive Club upcoming dive
Yes, we'll be diving in the Triangle- the max depth I've found is between 20-25'. Depending on conditions, experienced divers are welcome to dive on the river side but will be entirely on their own. We'll meet up at the crab dock parking lot at 10am on Sunday, where we'll give a dive site briefing f...

Eugene Dive Club upcoming dive
Despite the horrid weather conditions this week, the Eugene Dive Club will be hosting a dive Sunday in Winchester Bay. Non-members are invited to attend (we'll ask you to sign our standard waiver). We'll be diving in the Triangle, which is protected from surf and tide and just perfect for newer dive...

Re: Staying warm in the parking lot?
Use disposable handwarmers during the SI- any BTUs that you can get externally help offset the ones you lose from the cold. A warm beanie is huge; dry your hair the best you can if you have lots.

Vacation rentals
Hi- my group of Oregon divers has been making an annual trip over New Years to Hood Canal, and now we're thinking about shifting somewhat to the Port Townsend area (but we're open to other places, too). We'll have a couple of boats that we'll put in a marina, but we still want to shore dive from whe...

Yesterday, the Eugene Dive Club ventured up to the mountains to dive the Smith Reservoir outflow. More details about this site are available in a trip report I posted a few years ago: http://www.nwdiveclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=15885 This really is a unique experience as it's tough to go fast...

Re: Sea star die-off
Dove today in Port Orford, Oregon. With viz ranging from 1' to 10' because of krill, we didn't stay in the water very long. We did see at least 2 wasting sun stars and a couple of wasting ochre stars. Water temp was in the mid 40s.
