Re: Another lesson learned today
The problem with O2 toxicity is that "we just dont know".. as in we dont know why it happens and why some people get hit much sooner than others (if at all) and why the same person gets hit at random PO2 levels and random exposure times on different days.. Back in WW2, Prof. Kenneth Donal...

Re: SS Bunker Hill, or
I guess in the grand scheme of things $160 doesn't seem so bad to me. I mean jeesh I just spent $300 on a rental car in FL that I only put 280miles on in a week?! I would do a $160 OC dive, maybe not every month but a few times a year. But I'd freeze on deco in March, this March esp. Yeah, all true...

Re: SS Bunker Hill, or "Lessons Born in Flood"
I figured the cost including gas, other consumables, etc would be significant. That was the number I was sort of looking for. Didn't want to get all the way to training and kit purchase. That would probably be astromomical. Their are a lot of great prices lately on used CCR's with the economy and p...

Re: SS Bunker Hill, or
It is a lot of gas that is for sure. You are going to chew through just under 500 cu ft of deco gas. We typically have 20+ CCR and a few OC divers in 3 man teams put in the water every 15min. Each team is carrying around 600 cu ft of bailout. Extra 80's clipped off at 70' and 30'. With all the team...

Re: SS Bunker Hill, or
Are you guys slated to go out and do the stern yet? Nope. We've been talking about it, though. The Stern is turtled upside down, so there isn't as much to see, but some of us want to get a look at the screws- that would be worth a dive, I think. Depending on how the sand is piled up around the base...

Re: SS Bunker Hill, or
Glad to here you are okay, wet deco's suck. Sounds like the dive itself was great. Don't forget if you ever need to push it you have the GF99 on your Shearwater. We would have defiantly lost a diver in CA if he would not have come up on it. He was totally lethargic from Hypothermia when we got him ...

Re: Collapsed lung after snorkeling?
BTW, just for reference, and because the statement intrigued me as I had not heard it before . . . I did a Medline search, and I can't come up with anything at all supporting an increased incidence of spontaneous pneumothorax in people who have had influenza of any type. DURING the illness, when it...

Re: Collapsed lung after snorkeling?
Has he ever broken or cracked a rib or had a really good blow to the rib cage? They can develop shards and calcium buildup that can act like sand paper over time. Rubbing a weak spot in the lung. Their are so many different things that can cause this too happen it is not funny. the biggest one that ...

Re: Side Mount Deco Bottles
It looks like you have moved your hose clamp up considerably, about how many inches from base? Measure down from the top to where you want the valve to ride. Those are pretty far back, so might be hard to read MOD labels or gauges (although I don't see any labeling on those anyway, maybe on the ins...

Most people put a d ring on the lower half of the shoulder strap positioned between the waist and the chest to hook the top bolt snap to. Then hook the lower bolt snap to the butt plate and use the bungee to pull it up under the arm and stabilize it. I am tall so I can hook the lower bolt snap to m...

For me, wether its crabbing, shrimping or spearing its really not about it being cheaper at the store or what it cost in general to get out there to do it, when it comes to good times, good adventures, and good memories with awesome friends.... money is never a issue. Anytime you eat something that...

Re: Many shipwrecks in the columbia river
The summer before last I spend just over three months out on the peninsula diving just about everything that could be dove. I spent one month just doing wrecks off Grays Harbor. My mothers side of the family are from that neck of the woods and most of them have been in the fishing industry to some a...

I would not eat anything south of Seattle. That seams to be the big cutoff. Like the others have said the best sites are for the most part boat dives. however Whidbey and Camano Island has lots of areas that you can get in the water and find something to eat. Camano Island has a few areas that you c...
