What a beautiful example of the fact that the most important thing we can learn to do underwater is THINK. The fact that you coped with a valve handle falling off AND a trachea full of water, stayed calm, and thought the issue through is very cool. The shallow water thing was on my mind tonight, as ...

Well, there you go . . . I love Zee's Reef. Every time I've dived there we've had tons of fun, with octopus and wolf eels and all kinds of sculpins and nudibranchs . . . I like it better than Sunrise.

Interesting information, and went along with about the only way this made sense. It was a good reminder for me that my wing should be inflated before my toes go into the water, and that, although in very hot weather we may do some of the equipment check standing in the water, at the very least, we s...

Well, I love Edmonds, so there's that. I have a personal love/hate relationship with Cove 2. It's soooo easy, I fall into diving there much more than I should. I love Titlow, but I was talking to somebody at the dive shop the other day who said he'd never seen anything there that made it worth the d...

The single best dive I've done in the central Sound is the Possession Point ferry. The skeletal structure that remains of the boat creates tons of niches for a wide variety of life, and huge clouds of schooling fish swirl above the wreck. It was breathtakingly beautiful and fascinating. Another very...

Cindy, I'm really very sorry that I'm working Saturday night, so I won't make this. Any time I CAN make one of these, I'll try to come and offer to do a "big buddy' dive with anybody who's there.

Well, you're the only tech diver I know who's participating in this thing -- and I seem to remember you said something about figuring out dives for Sunday. I know Nick will be up here -- I'll have to look at the RSVPs to see if we have any other tech folks. Sounds like I need to make a road trip to ...

Well, I'm going to let Richard handle figuring something out to do with the tech folks on Sunday. My job is recreational divers.

Anybody know what kind of time we're talking about for a drive to Sekiu/Lake Crescent?

I need advice

In October, there will be a whole group of friends from up and down the West Coast converging on Seattle for the weekend. Saturday is already planned, with boat charters in the San Juans. But I've got Friday, Sunday and Monday to sort out yet. Monday, I think we'll do Edmonds, because it's shallow, ...

I know you already got your question answered and bought your camera, but for anybody else who brings up and reads this thread, I'd like to throw out the idea of the camera I use, which is an Olympus 720 (not sure that particular camera is still available, but there's an updated model). The cool thi...

We had at least 15 feet at Edmonds this evening, and no current whatsoever. TONS of life -- schools of young rockfish hiding in the anemones, as well as tubesnouts and shiner perch. I love fish! Very nice dive, and the quietest water I've had at Edmonds in a long time, despite the huge exchange this...

We stayed at the Villa Aldora, and dove with Aldora Divers. The villa is about a five minute walk from town -- Far enough away to be quiet and free of cruise ship folks, but close enough to make it pleasant to hike it for dinner or shopping. Aldora Divers picks up AT the villa, so you don't have to ...

When you get your card issues sorted out, give me a holler. We have enough gear to lend you some (BP/W, regs, fins) to use to get wet, and we can put you in a set of doubles if you want, too (although they're small ones).

Well, we finished off airsix's week in Seattle with a resounding . . . THUD. The tide was so high, I couldn't see any landmarks for finding the pipeline, and we overswam it on the surface. As a result, heading south didn't find it . . . But we found plains of gorgeous, huge sea pens (but without any...

Three Tree not current sensitive? I've been blown all over the place there!

Hope you guys had a great dive. You were right not to come with us . . . Not because it was shallow, but because I screwed up the navigation, and we admired sea pens for an hour . . .

I suspect a lot of us started out trying to use fleece garments designed for other purposes. Although I don't completely understand why, they just don't work. The fleece used for diving stuff must be much denser or higher pile or something. My husband was AMAZED when he switched from skiing garments...

Square profile, we kept our hard deck to 80 feet, but I think it was probably 90- 95 to the bottom on that tide. Site is current-sensitive, and can have brisk surface currents but be calm at depth (which are the conditions we had).
