Re: Sweet sweet irony

Fun report Eric. Glad to hear that you got to say hello to the turtles. Speaking of "if you do X, you're going to die"... that little ball is still on my rear dump valve. -Eric Eric, Casey and I were discussing this not more than three hours ago at Cove 2. We were taking odds on whether yo...

I would listen to Lynne. She does math. I did statistics as a part of experimental psychology - different beasty.

Re: Need statistics help... or is it sadistics?

Doug, As a caveat, it has been about 7 years since my last statistics work. The problem is that the problem presented does not really fit into IV/DV distinction and doesn't make any rational sense to me. There are many who think that IV/DV should only be applied to experimental work when it is clear...

I will be there. I will be towing along the long-fabled husband and we will be toting baked beans, unless I get the urge to cook something different.

Re: Questions for New NWDC Members

1) What have you learned (if anything) from the NWDC that has made you a better/safer diver? Where to start...everything from the difference between gas consumption and gas management (I really thought that gas management was controlling how much gas you breathed so that you could have longer dives)...

My work computer will log me off if I leave it unattended. My home computer will let me stayed logged on for as long as I want. I run FF on both, so I figured it was a function of some weird spy program work runs on my computer. :dontknow:

Re: SICK AGAIN

I am the healthy sort for the most part. Until this year. Three colds since mid-December, including one bout with the death cold that laid me up for several days. I am on the tail end of illness number 3. I think I may begin bathing in hand sanitizer, as the liberal application is just not working t...

Try soaking it in some warm water for a few minutes and then wrangling with it. Worked like a charm on mine.

Re: thoughts on dive schools

Kat, I don't want to dismiss your question, but I have I will echo what others have said - it is all about the instructor and determining what type of diving you want to do down the road. No matter how in-depth the agency materials are or how great the doctrine of the particular agency is, for me it...

Re: Just a quick introduction

I have been harassed at Les Davis. I will no longer dive there with only female buddies at night, which irks me because I do enjoy chick dives. Quite simply - there was too much crap tossed our way while gearing up to make the dive relaxing. I have never had a problem during the day or with some &qu...

I'm with BJ in wondering what you should do. If you see a person at a dive site who is clearly poaching, what would you do?

I feel your pain Dusty. I am hopefully preparing to resign my membership in this particular club sometime this week, as long as the doc gives me the go-ahead. After about 7 weeks, the shakes from nitrogen withdrawal are pretty much gone, but I am still itching to get in the water. Feel better soon!

Hey, I want to know where you got those cool blue tubs? Are they collapsible? I want one. i got mine here , but i think REI has them too. REI is actually closing them out (both the REI brand and the Seattle Sports brand). They currently have six on clearance at the Seattle store and none in Tacoma....

Re: Dry suit gaitors

Have you tried fin keepers? These are the little black rubber triangles that cost just about nothing at a dive shop. They made a HUGE difference in keeping the air out of my feet. This was especially true in my USIA suit. For some reason, these suits seem to respond very well to fin keepers.

I have freecycled immense quantities of stuff. I seem to move every two years or so (not nearly as often as Eric though), so there is always stuff to move out. I remember thinking that no one would want the extremely creepy statue that I found in the equally creepy basement of my house, but lo and b...

I have multiple things going on in my brain all the time. It always seems like life gives me 53 things that I have to think about RIGHT THAT MINUTE. I have always wanted to develop an inner sense of calm, without all the internal "noise." I tried meditation, exercise, and quite a bit of al...
