I'll be at Cove 2 tomorrow. Meeting Doug Stedding at 6:30 ... will probably get there around 4:30 and get in a dive before he gets there too.
Got 5 dives to go to hit 1,500 ... and I want to do that on Saturday in Neah Bay ...

I guess I'm just not onto this Diet Coke and Mentos thing ... wasn't planning on blowing anything up ... just want to talk about gas management. ... Bob (Grateful Diver) mentos seem to cause the solubility of CO2 in coke to reduce dramatically and the CO2 rapidly comes out of solution. i've been wo...

Take the ferry from Mukilteo ... I would plan to be on at least the 3 PM ferry, and keep in mind it's a Saturday so there may be a wait. Once on the other side, go about 3 miles, There's a turnoff on the right, just past the Red Apple grocery store (a gas station on the corner). Take that right ... ...

Re: Does anyone NOT have DAN insurance???
If not, why? Check this Darwinian sh*t out: While diving in Maui last week, Erica and I were on a boat with 4 other divers. One set of buddies (2 guys from LA, both with AOW certs) mentioned they were flying out late that evening... right after we completed our second dive at 9:30am!!! They weren't...

So just a thought Bob : will you aslo be talking about proper Dive planning? as it will relate directly to the subject you are going to be teaching? now that would be a good lesson. I for one would like to hear that againe. Sparky A good thought Sparky ... but the purpose of the seminar isn't so mu...

Re: about the Seacrest boundary line ...
I know you know this Bob but even though it's obvious I'll mention it...if you have an issue while you are deep your only choice isn't to cut inside the rope to go shallower. You can ascend to the proper depth for the air that you do have. I understand that for a newer diver an open water ascent ma...

Do we know that she actually died from drowning, and not some other diving related cause? I have trouble envisionning someone with a buddy drowning in such circumstances. Plenty of other bad accidents, or both of them drowning - but only one... In this case, yes ... she died of drowning. Stress is ...

Now we're talking!!! We could also do another crab boil... but of course, that would require several people to go diving first. I'm not sure about that... does anyone know some people who'd be willing to go dive for crab? \:D/ Doug ... you must be hungry ... Actually, I'm thinking I might even just...

Gas Management Seminar ???
Would anyone be interested in a free gas management seminar? Been meaning to offer this up for a while anyway ... seems like this might be a good time. The seminar material is adapted from the handbook I wrote for my AOW class and it covers some of the fundamental concepts of managing your air suppl...

I think that pretty much cinches up the pony bottle discussion. A pony bottle can be helpful ... but only if used properly. It is no substitute for training or experience. It won't keep you from panicking if you're inclined to do so. And it won't save you if you haven't practiced deploying it and a...

about the Seacrest boundary line ...
In light of yesterday's tragic accident ... Diving the boundary rope from Cove2 to Cove 3 keeps you deep for a long time. Many folks can't make it on a recreationally-sized tank of air ... and most of those who can will be cutting their reserves short. Unless you've been trained for deep diving, ple...

Well ... we could always put together a combination newbie/crab dive at Langley. Tides being what they are, you'd want a site with little current, reasonably shallow depth, and (of course) some chance for catching crabs. Langley might be the best choice ... they've even got bathrooms and fresh-water...
